Whereas in the roll in the university of Cambridge, the pope gave to Michael Causton, S.T.P. then absent, but now present at the Roman court, a benefice in the gift of the bishop and chapter of Norwich, and whereas in the papal chancery letters cannot be expedited for a benefice beyond the value of 25 marks, and in the gift of the said persons there is no benefice which does not exceed that amount, so that the grace is fruitless, the pope is prayed to extend it to a benefice of whatever value. Whereas on account of the number of those who expect benefices under papal letters, he is unable to make provision to his servants and friends, he prays for faculty to reserve, collate, and provide to six persons one or two benefices apiece in the gift of the bishop of London for the time being. 	(f. 80d.) Geoffrey de Herdeby, S.T.P. Augustinian provincial in England, of illegitimate birth. For dispensation to be promoted to any dignity of his order, short of the patriarchal. Granted. Avignon, 10 Kal. April.

Whereas Henry de Lutiberugh and Ralph de Daventre resigned respectively a canonry and prebend of St. Pancras in London, and the canonry and prebend entitled E. of St. Mary's by Leicester castle, in order to exchange them, they pray for confirmation of the same, notwithstanding that Ralph has the church of Braybrok, and the chapel of St. Mary in the same. 	Ibid. The bishop, dean, and chapter of Aberdeen. Whereas the late king Alexander granted to the bishop and church of Aberdeen the tenths of all rents and emoluments belonging to the king of Scotland, between the waters of Dee and Spee, and other kings confirmed the same, and king David has declared that they belong to the said bishop in perpetuity, and whereas the bishop and chapter have been continuously in possession of them; they pray the pope to confirm the said donation. 	(f. 110d.) Thomas de Bellocampo, earl of Warwick, lord of Gower, and marshal of England. On behalf of his treasurer, John Balake, for a dignity and prebend of Lincoln, Lichfield, or Salisbury, notwithstanding that he has the church of Grafton, in the diocese of Worcester, value 10l. Whereas the bishop of London, under papal letters, appropriated the church of Wareslee, in the diocese of Lincoln, to the warden and scholars of Valence Mary hall in the university of Cambridge, and whereas the church is valued at 12 marks, thereby exceeding by 2 marks the limit named in the papal letters; the said warden and scholars, and Mary de Sancto Paulo, countess of Pembroke, foundress of the said college, pray the pope to confirm the appropriation. Whereas the three churches of Saxthorp, Tilnee, and Wareslee, in the dioceses of Norwich and Lincoln, were appropriated to the college of Valence Mary, and whereas the diocesans are wont, in their own interests, to burden appropriated churches, and to limit excessively the vicars' portions, the foundress and scholars pray that the bishop of London, or some other English prelate, not of the said dioceses, be commissioned to adjust and limit the vicars' portions and the bishops' dues.

	(f. 116.) Edward, prince of Aquitaine and Wales. On behalf of his chancellor, Master John de Stretle, D.C.L. dean of Lincoln, and occupied in his service in Aquitaine, for an indult to enjoy the fruits of his deanery for three years, being non-resident. Granted. Avignon, 8 Id. April.
	(f. 117.) The bishop of Cambray. Whereas Lewis of Bavaria, who, although condemned for heresy and deprived of, any right acquired by his contested election, presumed to call himself emperor of the Romans, and issued letters depriving the bishop of Cambray of all his possessions held under the empire, and cited him to appear before king Edward as vicar of the same; and whereas Stephen Maulion, subject of the said bishop, and bearer of the letters of citation, was deprived by Clement VI. of all his benefices, and was rendered unable to obtain any others, under date of Avignon, 8 Id. Mar. Anno 6; and whereas the said Stephen, in spite of the above sentence, and with no other title, unless it be that he is a good falconer, holds the deanery of Cambray, and other benefices; the bishop prays the pope to cause the sentence of Clement VI. to be observed. On behalf of his domestic chaplain, Nicholas de Chelington, for the canonry and prebend of Ossory, value 10l. on their voidance by the consecration of the said archbishop, notwithstanding that he has the chancellorship of Dublin, value 20 marks. Whereas in the roll of the university of Cambridge provision was made to him of a benefice in the gift of the abbot and convent of Glastonbury, and he was wrongly described as of the diocese of Lincoln, whereas he is of that of York, he prays for correction of the same, and that the value of the benefice may be extended to 40l. with cure of souls, or 20l. without.
