	(f. 156.) John, son of Lewelin parvus, of Creuddyn, in the diocese of St. Davids, a Cistercian monk of Aberconwy, in the diocese of St. Asaph. For a dispensation that he, being illegitimate, may be chosen to and accept any office of his order. Granted. Avignon, 4 Kal. Feb.
	(f. 159d.) John de Trevaur, of the diocese of St. Asaph, bachelor of theology and M.A. For a dignity or office in the church of St. Asaph; notwithstanding that provision is made to him of canonries of St. Asaph and Bangor, with expectation of prebends. Granted. Avignon, 4 Kal. Feb.

	Ibid. Nicholas Ogrady, son of a sub-deacon. The pope has, at the request of the archbishop of Cashel, dispensed him so that he has been ordained and has obtained a canonry of Cork, with expectation of a prebend; and afterwards he obtained a canonry and prebend of Killaloe and the rectory of Cormach, in the same diocese, annexed to the prebend; the papal chancery doubts whether this canonry and prebend are covered by the dispensation; he therefore prays for provision to them anew, and for a dispensation to hold all his benefices. 1344.	(f. 163d.) The archbishop of Armagh. Signification that the pope, at his request, dispensed Master Isaac Otulean, of his diocese, skilled in the law, the son of a deacon, so that he was ordained and obtained a canonry and prebend of Armagh; and granted him also a further dispensation to hold any dignity; but a doubt has been raised in the papal chancery whether by virtue of the first dispensation he can hold the said canonry and prebend. The archbishop therefore prays the pope to make a fresh provision of them, and to dispense Isaac so that he may retain his benefices. Granted. Avignon, 4 Kal. Feb.
	(f. 166d.) The Cistercian abbot and convent of St. Mary's, Neeth, in the diocese of Llandaff. Signification that, at their request, the bishop appropriated to the monastery the church of Neeth, of their patronage, saving the right and dignity of the cathedral, and reserving a portion for a perpetual vicar, consisting of 8 marks, 4 acres of land, and other things belonging the said church; and that the religious should have to bear all the ordinary and extraordinary burdens attaching to the said church. The abbot and convent therefore pray the pope to confirm the said appropriation. Granted. Avignon, 4 Kal. Feb.
	(f. 172.) Adam, bishop of Winchester. On behalf of his chaplain, John Aunger, or Amiger, of the diocese of Hereford. For a canonry and prebend of Wells; notwithstanding that he expects a benefice in the gift of the archbishop of Canterbury. Granted. Avignon, 2 Non. Feb.
	(f. 173.) Thomas, abbot of St. Mary's, York, papal chaplain. For faculty to create two notaries, seeing that affairs are often committed to him by the pope, and by nuncios in England; and for faculty to make provision to eight of his clerks skilled in the law, of benefices with cure of souls in the gift of the said abbot and convent. 	(f. 173.) Ralph de Strubby, priest of the diocese of Lincoln. Signification that Master Oliver de Eyncourt, who held three parish churches and a canonry and prebend of Lincoln, at the time of the bull ‘Execrabilis’ resigned none, and is therefore deprived of all his benefices. Wherefore Ralph prays the pope to make provision to him of the said canonry and prebend, value 10 marks; notwithstanding that Sir Henry Monton, or Morton, holds them by collation of the ordinary; and also that Ralph has the church of Totel, in the said diocese, value 6½ marks. 	(f. 186.) John de Axebrugge, monk of Bath. For the priory of St. John the Evangelist, Waterford, with the house of St. John, in the diocese of Cork, annexed to the said priory, in the gift of the prior of Bath, for a long time void, and so lapsed to the pope, value, 20 marks. 	(f. 199d.) Reginald Perle, of Shrewsbury. Signification that having laboured much in the papal court he obtained from the pope in forma pauperum collation of a benefice in the diocese of Chichester, in the gift of the bishop of Exeter, and that this collation is useless, as all those benefices belong to the king, and exceed in value the sum granted by the pope to poor clerks. He therefore prays for a benefice in the gift of the abbot and convent of Shrewsbury. Granted, to the value of 30 marks with cure of souls, 20 without. Villeneuve by Avignon, 14 Kal. Mar.
	(f. 201d.) [bound with an. 6.] The Prior and convent the Cluniac monastery of Montacute, in the diocese of Bath and Wells. Signification that their church having been destroyed they have begun to build a new one, and that from this and other causes they are reduced to poverty, and are burdened with debt. They therefore pray for the appropriation to them of the church of Crich, of their patronage, value 20l. to take effect on the death or resignation of the rector, a perpetual vicar's portion being reserved. 	(f. 211.) The Augustinian prior and convent of Chaucumbe, in the diocese of Lincoln, in which are sixteen canons regular. Whereas their revenue of 200 marks is not sufficient, they pray that the parish churches of Penne and St. Michael's, Bereford, of their patronage, value not exceeding 17l. 3s. 4d. may be appropriated to them, and, as the value of the churches is small, they pray that on the death or resignation of the present rector they may exercise in them cure of souls, episcopal and archidiaconal rights being preserved, so as to take corporal possession of them without leave of the diocesan; or if not both churches, then the first. 	(f. 283.) Hugh de Mourton, of the diocese of Hereford, M.A. bachelor in theology. Signification that, although the pope, by mandate, made provision to the late Gerald, cardinal of St. Sabina's, of benefices in those parts, afterwards, on the voidance of the church of Dichyaite, in the diocese of Wells, the said Hugh, in ignorance that it had been accepted by the cardinal, was presented, by the patrons, to the diocesan, and by him instituted in it; but now, on hearing that the cardinal accepted it, he prays the pope to make provision of it to him, the reservation of the fruits of the cardinal's benefices, made by the pope to pay his debts, holding good. 	(f. 299.) The dean and chapter of St. Asaph. Signification that though the see is not void the pope reserved it, and then, by a false suggestion made to him that it was void, is said to have made provision of it to Walter de Chatton, a Friar Minor, ignorant of the Welsh tongue, now dead. The dean and chapter therefore considering that the people of Wales inhabiting, as they do, wild places, are themselves untamed and fierce, so that they will hardly receive discipline from those expert in their tongue, and seeing that if they had a prelate ignorant of it, they would be the more disobedient and rebellious, pray the pope to revoke his reservation, and, as there are many members of the chapter of approved learning and morals, doctors of canon and civil law and theology, to give them licence to elect a bishop. Signification that when the hospital of St. Cross, near Winchester, of his collation, was void, he made provision of it to William de Edyndon, the king's treasurer, who restored the buildings and improved the condition of the poor persons dwelling there, spending 1000l. but on the report that the late Peter de Galliciano, master of the hospital, was chaplain of Clement V, and that the hospital was therefore reserved to the pope, of which the bishop was ignorant, he prays the pope to declare valid the appointment of the said William, and all that he has done. The pope makes provision of the hospital, and remits the fruit received. Dated as above. (3.) The same. Signification that on the voidance of the church of Eadberburi, in the diocese of Lincoln, by the resignation or marriage of Sir Itherius de Concoreto, papal nuncio the bishop presented his nephew Master Thomas de Tryllek, M.A. B.C.L. to the bishop of Lincoln, who inducted him into the rectory, on which he spent 300 marks in restoring the buildings. On its becoming known that the benefice was reserved to the pope, the bishop prays him to declare valid the said presentation and induction. The pope makes provision and remits fruits received. He obtained the church of Conveth, in the said diocese, by the collation of the bishop, but on hearing that its provision had lapsed to the pope by reason of its having been long held by William de Eves, who neglected to be ordained priest, he prays for provision of it to himself, notwithstanding that he holds a canonry and prebend of St. Mary's of the Culdees (Keldeorum), in the said diocese, value not exceeding 10 marks, and has the grant of a canonry of Ross, with expectation of a prebend, which is of no effect, because when he obtained it no mention was made of the canonry and prebend of St. Mary's.
