LEICESTER. Inq. Saturday after St. Ambrose, 19 Edward II.
Houwys. A messuage, 2 carucates of land, and 30s. rent, held jointly with Margaret his wife, who survives, by the gift of Stephen son of John de Nevill of Wymundewold to them and the heirs of the said William by fine levied in the king’s court, of the heir of Stephen de Segrave, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of 12d. yearly; and a messuage, 2 carucates of land, including 40a. meadow on ‘le Wold,’ and 100s. yearly rent, held of Thomas de Chaworth, knight, by service of a knight’s fee.
Wymundewold. Three parts of a capital messuage, 72a. arable, and 24s. yearly rent, held of John Haclut and Alice his wife by service of 1/6 knight’s fee; a fourth part of a capital messuage, held of the prior of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England by service of 12d. yearly; and 3 virgates of land of the fee of Tykhull, held of Roger de Sancto Andrea and Maud his wife by service of 1/13 knight’s fee.

Geoffrey de Staunton, his kinsman, aged 24 and more, is his next heir.

Basingham. A capital messuage &c., 10 bovates of arable land, 39a. and 1/2 perch meadow, a fifth part of a fishery, a water-mill, rents &c., held of the honour of Huntyngdon, as of the pourparty of Robert de Brus now in the king’s hand through his forfeiture, by service of 1/5 and a third part of 1/5 knight’s fee, which service amongst other fees and advowsons of churches which were of Robert de Brus the elder, was assigned in dower to Eleanor late the wife of the said Robert, on 26 January, 11 Edward II.

A messuage, 24a. land, rent &c. held of the king in chief by service of three parts of a grand serjeanty, viz.—that he with Robert de Welholm, who holds the fourth part, should carry to the king wherever he should be in England, 100 fresh herrings in 24 pasties at their own costs of the rent of the citizens of Norwich.
Estcarleton and Hetill. 60a. arable held of Thomas de Brothertone, earl of Norfolk and marshal of England, by service of a knight’s fee.

Joan his daughter, aged half a year and 3 weeks, is his next heir, and Alice his wife is pregnant.

Writ to the sheriff of Hereford, 2 December, 19 Edward II.
HEREFORD. Inq. Tuesday the feast of St. Agnes, 19 Edward II.
Bishop’s Frome. A messuage, 2 carucates of land, and 1a. meadow, held jointly with Isabel late his wife, as of the gift of Roger de Clehungre to hold to them and the heirs of the said Peter, of the bishopric of Hereford, now in the king’s hand, by service of 1/4 knight’s fee, 22s. 6d. to the bishopric yearly, and suit at the court of the bishopric at Hereford. Alice, late the wife of Walter Hakelut, deceased, holds a third part of the above in dower.
Richard’s Castle. A messuage, a carucate of land, and 2a. meadow, held jointly as above, as of the gift of Walter Hakelut father of the said Peter, of Richard Talebot by service of 4s. rent, a pair of gilt spurs, and 1lb. pepper yearly; and the said Peter demised the same to Hugh Bouvile for life for 20s. yearly.
Edmund his son, aged 3 years on the feast of the Purification last, is his next heir.

La Hale by Brommore. The manor held jointly with Cristina his wife who survives, by the enfeoffment of Gilbert de Chilton to them and the heirs of the said Adam by fine levied in the king’s court, of the king in chief by service of finding a footman in the king’s war in England for forty days, armed with hauberk, doublet (propuncto) and iron cap. The manor is charged to Juliana de Stourton in 100s. yearly.

SURREY. Inq. made at Tanrugg on Sunday after St. Nicholas, 19 Edward II.
Ocstede. A moiety of the manor, excepting 51s. rent receivable from the abbot of Battle, held for life by the, demise of Henry de Lodegershal by fine levied in the king’s court, with remainder to Clarice de Oc[stede sister] of the said Aline for life, and further successive remainders to Roger (son) of Roger de Wellesworth and the heirs of his body, and to John his brother, John Shench, and Roland his brother, and the heirs of their bodies respectively, and to the right heirs of the said Clarice; and the said Aline enfeoffed the said Clarice of the abovesaid rent for life by fine levied in the king’s court in 15 Edward II, with remainder to John son of Roger de Wellesworth and his heirs for ever. The said moiety is held of the king in chief, as of the honour of Boulogne by service of 1 1/4 knight’s fee, and of Hugh de Neville by service of 1 knight’s fee.

Mousele. A messuage, 2 virgates of land, 2a. meadow with pasture, and 26s. 8d. rent, held for life, by the gift of Thomas Trussel parson of the church of Langeport, of the heir of Guy de Bello Campo, late earl of Warwick, a minor and in the king’s wardship, by service of 1/4 knight’s fee; and a messuage, a carucate of land, 4a. meadow, and 13s. 8d. rent, held for life, as above, of Margery Gobyon by service of 1/6 knight’s fee.
Guthmundele. A messuage, 5 virgates of land, and 5s. 4d. rent, similarly held of Richard de Seyton by service of 1/6 knight’s fee. She held no other lands &c. in the bailliwick.
William Cursoun, aged 50 and more, Thomas Brabazon, aged 26 and more, and Roger de Outheby, aged 36 and more, are her next heirs of the said land.

LEICESTER. Inq. Sunday after St. Thomas the Apostle, 19 Edward II.
Mousele. Thomas Trussell gave the lands contained in the writ to Matthew le Brabazon and Sarra his wife, to hold to them and the heirs of the said Matthew; and the abovesaid Thomas le Brabazon, William le Curzon and Roger de Oudeby, are his kinsmen and next heirs, and the reversion falls to them.

BERKS. Inq. 23 February, 19 Edward II.
Westhakebourne. The manor, held jointly with Joan his wife; for the said Richard by licence of King Edward I. sometime enfeoffed John de Drokenesford, clerk, of the said manor, who afterwards by fine levied in the king’s court granted the same to the said Richard and Joan for life with remainder to Richard son of the said Richard who is now of full age; and the said Joan survives. The manor is held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
