BEDFORD. Inq. Wednesday the feast of the Translation of St. Thomas (the Martyr), at the beginning of 10 Edw. II.
Caynho. A messuage, 80a. arable, 8a. meadow, 4a. pasture, 60a. wood, a third part of 2 water-mills, rents, perquisites of court &c. held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
Roger his son, aged 14 at the feast of Easter last, is his next heir.
BUCKINGHAM. Inq. 23 June, 10 Edw. II.
Latheburi. The manor (extent given), held of William Inkel’ by service of 1/4 knight’s fee.

617. ROBERT DE CREVEQUER alias DE CREVQUER.
Writ of plenius certiorari to the justice of North Wales, on the complaint of Robert son of John de Crevequer, heir of Robert de Crevequer deceased, that the escheator had taken into the king’s hand the towns of Penmeyn and Lessemeyn, held by the said Robert deceased by the late king’s grant to him and his heirs, 2 May, 9 Edw. II.
[CARNARVON.] Inq. Wednesday before St. James, 10 Edw. II.
Penmeyn and Lessemeyn in the Cantred of Ros, were held by the deceased by the grant of the late King Edward in his 7th year to him and his heirs, in exchange for other lands in Kent to the value of 7l. land, deficient to the said Robert of a sum of 20l. land in Manso and Prestalton; which grant together with the lands of Prestalton and Maylursaysenek [alias Maylorseysenek] was to be held by service of 1 knight’s fee, and the said Robert died seised of those towns in fee.
Robert son of John de Crevequer his kinsman, aged 28, is his next heir.
Writ of diem clausit extremum to the justice of North Wales, 6 Aug. 10 Edw. II.

LINCOLN. Inq. Wednesday before All Saints, 10 Edw. II.
Appelby and Saunton. A moiety of the towns, and the advowson of the priory of Thornholm, held of the king in chief by service of a moiety of a serjeanty, viz.—finding a moiety of the costs for an armed horseman in the king’s war for forty days; which moiety of the said towns he alienated to divers men, excepting 1d. rent from land in Saunton, and a garland from Margaret de Nevill for a plot of meadow called Northalheng’ in Appelby.
He held no knights’ fees in the county of the king in chief.
Philip his son, aged 30 on the day that the said Geoffrey died, is his next heir.

BUCKINGHAM. Inq. 12 Sept. 10 Edw. II.
Leghamstede. A messuage and 2 virgates land (extent given), held of Alan de Leughme by service of 8s. yearly, 2 capons at Christmas, and scutage when it runs; 2 virgates land held of Hugh Chastilon by service of 1d. yearly, and 1lb. pepper; and 1 virgate land held of William le Vavasour by service of 12d. yearly, and the work of two men in the autumn.
John de Tyngewyk his brother, aged 30 and more, is his next heir.
NORTHAMPTON. Inq. 6 July, 9 Edw. II.
Evenlee. The manor (extent given), held of the barony of Wodhulle by service of 9s. yearly.
Wappenham. 8a. wood called Prosthey in the king’s forest of Witlewode, 4a. meadow and 8a. pasture, held of the king in chief by service of a fourth part of 1/2 knight’s fee.
Faukote hamlet by Wappenham. 20a. arable held of John Giffard of Twiford by service of 1lb. cummin.
Le Mourhende. A messuage and 20a. land, held of John de Cromwell by service of 3s. 1d., and suit of court; 24a. land and 1a. meadow, held of Henry Spigernel rendering 5s. yearly; 20a. land held of Henry Gobioun, service unknown; 1a. land and 1/2a. meadow, held of Thomas de Tople rendering 1d. yearly; and 4 assarts containing 57a. land, held of the king in chief rendering 14s. 3d. yearly at the king’s exchequer; and there are 13s. 4d. rent of free tenants.

OXFORD. Inq. 10 Oct. 10 Edw. II.
Sulthorn. The manor (extent given), was sometime held by Richard de Abberburi, but one Master Richard de Middelton deraigned the said manor from his hands in the king’s court by virtue of a statute merchant, and so was seised thereof, excepting a messuage, 1 1/2 virgate land and 48s. rent, until John de Lewgenore alias de Leukenore and William de Tynchewyk entered upon the said manor by force, and for six days continued seisin thereof, until the said John enfeoffed the said William therein to him and his heirs, who thus held the said manor by force until the day of his death, and not otherwise. The manor is held of Thomas de Bykenor as of Richard’s Castle by service of 1lb. cummin.

Weston and Spaldyng. 9a. land and 3a. pasture, which are in the king’s hand descended to the said John from his father; whereof 3a. land and a cottage are held of Reginald de Peckebrygge by service of 5d. yearly, 4 1/2a. land held of John de Wyke by service of 1d. yearly, 1 1/2a. land held of Thomas Silveron by service of 2s. 8 1/2d. yearly, and 3a. pasture held of Thomas de Multon by service of 13 1/2d. yearly.
He is an idiot from his birth.

A messuage, 11a. land, and 3a. pasture in the marsh of Weston, which are in the king’s hand by reason of the foolishness of the said John; whereof 5a. land with a messuage are held of Reginald de Peckebrigg by service of 5d. yearly, 4 1/2a. land held of the heirs of John de Wyke by service of 1d. yearly, 1 1/2a. land held of the heirs of Thomas Silveroun by service of 2s. 8 1/2d. yearly, and 3a. pasture in the marsh of Weston, held of Sir Thomas de Multon by service of 13 1/2d. yearly.

GLOUCESTER. Inq. Thursday after the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, 10 Edw. II.
Upton St. Leonard. A capital messuage, 160a. arable, 10a. meadow, 5a. wood, a water-mill, 7a. pasture, and 12s. rent of assize, held of the king in chief by serjeanty of following the king in time of war with a man with bow and arrows at his own cost for 40 days.
Thomas son of William de la Grave her brother, aged 40 and more, is her next heir.
Memorandum. German de Thonebregg asserts that the said Sibyl died ten years ago and more, and long before her death enfeoffed him of the tenements mentioned in this inquisition, to hold to himself and his heirs, by licence of the late King Edward, whose writ he brought.

LINCOLN. Inq. Wednesday the feast of the Translation of St. Thomas the Martyr, 10 Edw. II.
Little Carlton. 31a. arable late of Robert Cormayls, held, by the gift of Robert de Shaddeworth his father, of Philip de Lyndeseye, who holds the manor of Wykyngby by the courtesy of England of the inheritance of the heir of Robert le Chaumberlayn, who is in the king’s wardship, by knight’s service.
Little Carlton. The manor, with its appurtenances in Great Carlton, Thetelthorp, Catby by Gayton, and Calthorp by Lekburn, with the advowson of the church of Little Carlton (extent given), held, by the gift of the said Robert in tail, of William son and heir of Robert de Schaddeworth by service of a rose, and doing the services due to the chief lords of the fee, viz.—to Philip de Lyndeseye for the manor of Little Carlton what pertains to 1/2 knight’s fee, to Geoffrey Maukuvaunt (sic) for 1 bovate land and a plot of pasture called Southfenne in Little Carlton 2 marks yearly, and to Philip de Kyme for tenements in Thetelthorp the service pertaining to 1/100 knight’s fee.

Writ of plenius certiorari on the complaint of John de Creppinges that since the said Roger’s lands were taken into the king’s hand he had not received the service of 4s. yearly from lands &c. in Beltoft which the said Roger held of him, 16 Dec. 9 Edw. II.
LINCOLN. Inq. 2 Feb. 9 Edw. II.
Beltoft. The said John was seised by the hands of the said Roger for seven years before his death, of 4s. rent issuing from certain lands which the said Roger held of him there; and the said rent was taken into the king’s hand together with the lands of the said Roger twelve years ago, because he held the same of John, son and heir of Roger de Moubray, then in the king’s wardship, and so they have remained by reason of the minority of William son of the said Roger.
