CHESTER.	Inq. Wednesday after St. Barnabas.
	Chedle. The manor held of the king in chief for 1 knight’s fee, by doing the service of a knight, rendering yearly a mark of rent called ‘revegal,’ finding a doomsman (judicator) at the king’s court of his manor of Macclesfeud every fortnight, doing his share of the hedge (haya) round the chace of ‘le Combes’ in the forest of Macclesfeud, and giving the sergeants of the peace of the manor of Macclesfeud food (putura) every month from the foreign lands of the said manor of Chedle. Macclesfeud. A carucate of land within the forest, rendering to the king 6d. a year for all service. Geoffrey his son, aged 26, is his next heir.

	Kyngeston upon Hul. Four tofts, which render 29s. 4d. yearly to the king. He died on Thursday before St. Laurence, 22 Edw. I, and his lands were taken into the king’s hand on the Saturday after the same feast and are in the king’s hand still. Of his next heir nothing is known because he was born in Harwys ten leagues from London; he who says he is the heir, is believed to be about 16 years of age.

William [Trussell] her son, aged 32 on the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, 22 Edw. I, is her next heir.
STAFFORD.	Inq. taken at Lappelg’ on Tuesday after the octave of Easter, 22 Edw. I.
	Hales Trussell. The manor (extent given of as much as is in the county), including a fishery, held of Sir Richard son of Alan for 1/2 knight’s fee, doing for the same the service of one man with an unbarded horse, iron cap, and lance, at Oswestry (Album Monasterium) at her own charges for six weeks whilst there is war between England and Wales, wardship and marriage. Heir as above.
SALOP.	Inq. made at Schirrevishales on Wednesday after St. Mark, 22 Edw. I.
	Hales. The manor (extent given of as much as is in the county), including a fishery in the moat round the court and in that part of the fish pond which is within the county, held of Richard earl of Arundel, by service of finding in time of war between England and Wales a man for forty days with habergeon of raw hide (hauberjunum crudum) and bacinet, with an unbarded horse, in the castle of Oswestry at her own charges. A messuage, 75a. arable, 4s. rent, 4a. meadow, 4a. pasture, a water-mill, and 40a. wood, held of the king in chief by service of rendering 1/2 mark at the king’s exchequer yearly, which service used to be done by serjeanty of the king’s spit; which lands &c. one Nicholas de Assewelle held at one time, and gave to Henry le Somenour and Walter his son, to hold to them and the heirs of the body of the said Walter, of the king as aforesaid, but the said Walter had no heirs of his body, and the jury know not to whom belongs the reversion. The said Walter at one time held certain lands &c. of Joan de Watevile in chief, which he sold to William Attelyhetewatre and William his son and Thomas de la Freche, to hold to them and their heirs of the chief lords of the fee. Petition of Nicholas de Asshewell, son and heir of Nicholas de Asshewel who enfeoffed Henry le Somenour and Walter his son of the above messuage &c. in Fynchingfeud hamlet and Asshewelle, praying the king to grant him the same, as next heir of the said Walter le Somenour who died without heirs of his body. 	Aungre ad Castrum. The manor (extent given), including a market, at one time held of the king in chief, of the honour of Boulogne, by service of 3 knights’ fees. Aungre. The hundred, held of the king, as of the crown, by the gift of King Henry III. Stanford Ryveres. The manor (extent given), including a park, at one time held of the king in chief of the honour of Boulogne. But seven years before his death the said John enfeoffed Simon de Craye the elder of the abovesaid manors and hundred, to hold to him and his heirs, who gave them by fine levied in the king’s court to the said John de Ripariis and Maud his wife to hold to them and the heirs of their bodies of the king in chief. John de Ripariis, the younger, son of the said John and Maud, aged 26 and more, is their next heir.
