He held in his demesne as of fee 1 tenement and 2 bovates of arable and meadow in Snaith by Carlton of the king in socage of the duchy of Lancaster of the honor of Pontefract by a rent of 3s.4d. at Pontefract castle, annual value 13s.4d.
Ralph de Beston his father by charter dated at Beeston on 31 March 1410 granted to William de Haryngton and Richard Goldesburgh, knights, Thomas Goldesburgh, Gilbert de Legh of Middleton, Brian de Beston and Miles de Beston, all his lands in Beeston, Cottingley, Churwell, Morley and Ardsley, to them and their heirs and assigns, and they still hold them.
He died on 4 Oct. 1417. Thomas de Beston, vicar of Wharram Percy, is his brother and next heir, aged 40 years and more.

She held in dower of the inheritance of Thomas de Hibburn, kinsman and heir of John Wendout, a 3rd part of half the manor of Newton by the Sea, annual value 20s., and a 3rd part of the manor of Hebburn, annual value 13s.4d. and no more owing to destruction by the Scots. Both are held of the king in chief of the crown as a 4th part of a knight’s fee.
She died on 22 Feb. 1417. Thomas Hibburn, son of Robert, son of Isabel, sister of John Wendout is John’s heir, aged 28 years and more.

He held the manor of Walton Dervyle extending in Walton Mauduit, Wellesbourne Hastings and Wellesbourne Mountford in his demesne as of fee, and by his charter dated 29 April last granted it to Master William Mountfort, clerk, Thomas Aylesbury, knight, John vicar of Wellesbourne Hastings, John Langston and Hugh Dalby and their heirs, on condition that if he, Alan, died beyond the sea, they should pay his debts and those of Margaret Strange his mother from the issues, and afterwards the debts cleared, enfeoff Alice his daughter, now aged 12 years and more, to herself and her heirs.
The manor is held of the earl of Warwick by knight service, annual value £20.
He died overseas in the king’s army on 20 Dec. last.

He held in his demesne as of fee in chief of Richard II the manor of Great Delce, as a 4th part of a knight’s fee, and 1 carucate in Chatham of the castle of Leeds by fealty and rents of 22d. and a pair of gilt spurs, annual values, the manor £8, the carucate 40s.
He died on 12 Oct. 1388. John Croydoun of London is his kinsman and heir, being the son of Thomas, son of Agnes, sister of Benet, father of Richard.
William Venour senior entered the premises immediately after the death of Richard and held them for 6 years, title unknown. Then William his son entered and held for 12 years until he enfeoffed Drogo Barentyn, William Pynch and John Clyfton, parson of Leybourne and others, in fee simple. They have held since.

He held to himself and the heirs male of his body a manor in Standon called ‘Bertrammes’ by the grant of Robert Marsshall his father, with remainder to Roger Marsshall [his kinsman?] and his heirs. It is held of the king in socage by fealty and a yearly rent of 8d., annual value 5 marks.
He died on 6 Jan. 1403 without heirs male. The manor should descend to Thomas Torell as heir of Roger Marsshall, being the son of Richard, son of Elizabeth, sister of Roger. Robert Lytton, knight, Robert’s executor has held and taken the profits, title unknown. Thomas Torell was aged 20 years on 21 Sept. last. His next heir is unknown.

Pickthorn is held of the king in chief by a rent of 16d. payable by the sheriff, annual value 40s. and Cressage of Edmund earl of March by rent of a rose, annual value £20.

He held the manor of Stanton Harcourt in his demesne as of fee by a fine of 1330 made with royal licence [CP 25/1/189/17, no. 56 CPR 1327–30, p.539] between William de Harcourt and Joan his wife, and Nicholas de Harcourt, parson of Sheepy, by which Nicholas granted it back to William and Joan, the heirs male of their bodies and his right heirs. They held and had issue Thomas who held it to himself and his heirs male of the king in chief, as half a knight’s fee, and by the service of cutting underwood in Woodstock park to support the deer there when the ground is covered with snow for 3 days at a time between Michaelmas and Lady Day, and reaping the king’s meadow called ‘Stauntonmede’ there. He held the manor of Ellingham in his demesne as of fee of the king in chief as a 3rd part of a knight’s fee. There are: 1 capital messuage with garden, annual value nil; 1 dovecot 40d.; 119 a. arable at 3d. and no more because in the common fields; 32 a. meadow 32s.; 4 a. pasture 2s.; 6 a. underwood nil, because harvested in the past year; pasture there 8d.; assize rents 62s.4d and 1 lb. pepper price 16d.
He formerly held the manor of Faccombe in his demesne as of fee and granted it, except for 1 acre, by licence of Henry IV [CPR 1405–8, p.415] to William Wyburne, vicar of Ellingham and Thomas Belage. They regranted it to him for life with successive remainders to John his son and Margery, John’s wife, the heirs of John’s body, William Anketill and Elizabeth his wife, John’s sister, the heirs of her body and the heirs of Oliver.
Faccombe manor is held of the king in chief. It is held of the king in chief by homage and fealty and the finding of a man with an unbarded horse, and with acton, pallet, lance and gauntlets of plate for 40 days when there is war with Scotland, annual value of the 3rd part, 5 marks.
She held the manor of Tanton in fee tail with 2 messuages, 10 tofts, 7 bovates and 7 a. in Kildale and 1 messuage and 5 bovates in Newby, by the grant of Robert Coniers and Thomas de Baynton, knights, and John Coniers to William Percy and herself and the heirs of their bodies, with successive remainders to Margaret his sister and the heirs of her body, John Percy of Kildale and his heirs, and the grantors. William died without heirs. All should remain to Margaret his sister, wife of Thomas Blaufront. They had issue Henry, now earl of Northumberland, and aged 22 years and more.

He held the manors of Ebrington and Farmcote in his demesne as of fee, and by his deed dated 20 Oct. 1406 granted them to Master William Loryng, Gilbert Debynam, John Rocwode, William Rocwode, Richard Wythurmerssh, William Boneton, rector of Marsh Baldon, and William Prestgrave, chaplain, to them and their heirs and assigns. They held and by their deed dated at Ebrington on 10 Nov. 1406 granted them to Robert, Joan his wife and the heirs of their bodies with successive remainders to John Grevell and Sybil his wife and the heirs of their bodies and the right heirs of Robert Corbet. Ebrington now belongs to John and Sybil Grevell in virtue of the remainder.
Farmcote manor was held by Roger Corbet of Ebrington in his demesne as of fee, and by his charter dated at Hadley on 22 May 1316 he granted it to John his son and Agnes, John’s wife, and their heirs. They held and had issue Robert and he had issue Sybil. The manors are held of the duchy of Lancaster, services unknown, annual values, Ebrington £20, Farmcote £8.

Nicholas Potyn, esquire, formerly held the manor of East Hall and granted it to Thomas Seintleger and Juliana his wife, Arnold Savage, knight, William Makenade and the heirs of Thomas by royal licence [CPR 1416–22, p.126]. Thomas Arnold and William died. Juliana died seised of it of the king in chief by knight service, annual value £10.
Elmyng Leget and Margery his wife formerly held 1 messuage and 400 a. marsh in Elmley in their demesne as of fee and gave them by royal licence [CPR 1385–9, p.145] to Thomas Seintleger and Juliana formerly his wife, Thomas Brokhill, Stephen Norton of Chart, William Makenade, John Kelsham and the heirs of Thomas Seintleger. He gave a yearly rent of £8 from them to Henry Augey, Joan his wife, and the heirs of their bodies. They are held of the king in chief by knight service, annual value beyond the rent 20s. The others died and Juliana held them.
William Makenade and Richard Lentwardyn, clerk, formerly held the manor of Otterden in their demesne as of fee, and granted it by charter to Thomas Seintleger and Juliana formerly his wife and his heirs. It is held of the prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England of his manor of Stalisfield and of William Clifford, esquire, of his manor of Sutton Valence, services unknown, annual value 5 marks.
Juliana died on 29 Jan. last. John de Cobham, esquire, her son and next heir is aged 40 years and more. The manors etc. descended to Joan wife of John Ewyas, esquire, one daughter and heir of Thomas, aged 32 years and more, and William son of Thomas Fogg, junior, and Eleanor his wife, the other daughter and heir, aged 20 on 1 Nov.

Alice formerly the wife of Dennis Lopham and now of John Rodenale, aged 49 years, Elizabeth wife of John Thorp, 47 years, Margaret wife of John Michill, citizen of London, 45 years, daughters of Cecily, and John son of John Burman, son of Joan, daughter of Cecily, aged 3 years, are her next heirs.
Dennis Lopham, John Thorp and Elizabeth, John Michill and Margaret and John Burman held and took the profits until Michaelmas 1415 when John Burman died. Then John Thorp and Elizabeth and John Michill and Margaret held half, and John Rodenale and Alice and Richard Burman, younger brother of John, held the other half, titles unknown.

Thomas Frere, sometime husband of Cecily Ragonell, held 1 messuage called ‘Freresplace’, 178 a. arable, 10 a. meadow, 4 a. pasture, 2 a. wood and 30s. rent in Sawbridgeworth in his demesne as of fee and granted them to John Brykelesworth and his heirs. He regranted them to Thomas Frere and Cecily, then his wife, to hold to them and his heirs male with remainder to the heirs of their bodies. They held and had issue Joan now deceased and Alice who survives. Thomas died without male heirs.
Cecily survived and married Hamilton de Matcham and had 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. Cecily held the premises on 26 July 1410. John son of John Burman of Stainby by Grantham, son of Joan, aged 3 years and Alice wife of John Rodenhale, 49 years, are heirs to the above premises. John son of John and Alice, and Elizabeth, 47 years, wife of John Thorp and Margaret, 45 years, wife of John Michell citizen of London, are next heirs to her inherited lands and tenements.
Since the death of Cecily Dennis Lopham and Alice then his wife held for 3 years. After his death Alice married John Rodenhale, who held half in right of Alice and the other half by the grant of John Burman who died on 29 Sept. 1415. Since then John Rodenhale and Alice have held, title unknown.
The messuage etc. except for 45 a. are held of Roger Lescrop, knight, of the manor of Pishiobury, service unknown, annual value 5 marks, and no more because the 45 a. are burdened with an annuity of 6s.8d. to John Thornhill and William Wilflete, clerks, payable at Shingle Hall in Sawbridgeworth by equal parts at the 4 terms, and the remainder with unknown annuities payable to Roger Lescrope at the manor of Pishiobury at the same terms.

She died on 26 July 1410. Alice who was the wife of Dennis Lopham, then aged 38 years, Elizabeth wife of John Thorp, then 36, Margaret wife of John Michill, citizen and fishmonger of London, the 3rd daughter, aged 34 and John Burman son of Joan the 4th daughter, then aged 26 [sic], are her heirs.
On 3 July 1410, long before her death, she granted to Dennis and Alice 6 tofts, 118 1/2 a. arable, and 8 a. meadow in Little Childerley and Lolworth; 1 1/2 a. in Great Childerley called ‘Ricardeslonde’, and 2 tofts and 18 a. in Great Childerley, Little Childerley and Lolworth, which were never parts of the manor, to hold to them and the heirs of Alice.
