The manor (extent given), including nineteen 'Acremen' and eleven 'Lundenarii' who shall work every Monday yearly except three, held in dower of the king in chief, rendering 20s. yearly at the castle of Dyvises. She died on Saturday after St. Katherine, 12 Edw. I. Richard son of John (son) of the said Alan (sic. but no Alan previously mentioned in the inquisition), age unknown, is her next heir.

All held by Richard de Amundevill, of the dower of the said Maud, of the king in chief, of the inheritance of Richard son of Alan, who is within age and in the king's wardship.
Sussex.	Extent, Wednesday after St. Nicholas, 12 Edw. I. Esewrithe. The hundred (extent given) which was sometime assigned to Lady Maud de Werdun in dower, and to which pertain the tithings of Gretham, Storkt', Billingeh', and Howik, Perham the tenement of the parson of Rugwik, and the tithings of Niutimbre and Dunhurst.
Sussex.	Extent, Tuesday after St. Nicholas, 12 Edw. I. Norhstote. A messuage with garden, 30a. arable in demesne, 15a. meadow, pasture in the marsh, 6s. 6d. rent of assize, 28s. customs, &c, 24s. from a tenement in la Manewode, a fishery &c., which sometime were assigned to Lady Maud in dower. Buri. The hundred (extent given) similarly assigned, including the tithings of Bigeneuere and Eringeham. The abbot of Fiscamp used to give 40s. to have fines (misericordias) from his tenants in the said hundred.
Sussex.	Extent, Friday after St. Andrew, 12 Edw. I. Esebourn. The hundred (extent given) similarly assigned, to which pertain the tithings of Stedeham, Cokkyngges, Graffham, Hetschete, Bekynton, Lynche, Hyppyngge, Wolbedyngge, Bodyton and Seleham. She died on the day of St. Edmund, King and Martyr, 12 Edw. I. Richard son of Alan, aged 18 at the feast of St. Michael last, is her next heir.
Sussex.	Extent, Saturday after St. Andrew, 12 Edw. I. Donhurst. The manor (extent given), including the hundred of Retheresbrugge, similarly assigned, and held of the king in chief, pertaining to the honour of Arundell. Date of death, the day of St. Edmund, as above. Heir as above.
Sussex.	Extent, Sunday the eve of St. Nicholas, 12 Edw. I. Estden. The manor (extent given), including the advowson of the church, the pastures of Beuchamp, Wodelye, and Lytlendon, and a rent of 2s. 7½d. at Cycestre, similarly assigned, and held of the king in chief, pertaining to the castle of Arundell. [Somerset.]	Extent, Friday after St. Katherine, 12 Edw. I. Muryfeud. Somerset.	Extent, Sunday, the eve of St. Nicholas, 12 Edw. I. Welweton. The manor (extent given), including a hamlet called Wydecumbe, held of the king in chief of the barony of Fortibus, and it is of the inheritance of Cecily, late the wife of the said John, one of the sisters and heirs of William de Fortibus, and she is of age.
Somerset.	Extent, Sunday, the eve of St. Nicholas, 12 Edw. I. Donden. The manor (extent given) with the advowson of the church of Lyminton, held of the abbot of Glastonbury by service of 8½ knights' fees, and it is of the inheritance of the said Lady Cecily. Heir as above. Writ on the complaint of Nicholas de Monteforti that the escheator had taken into the king's hands 100s. rent from the manor of Stokes Hamedon, which the said John had granted him for life eight years before his death, with mandate to restore the same if it is so, 28 Dec. 12 Edw. I.
Somerset.	Inq. Friday the morrow of Epiphany, 12 Edw. I. Stokes Hamedon. 100s. rent from the manor were given by the said John eight years and more before his death to the said Nicholas for life, viz.—those which the said John used to receive from the mill near the bridge of Perret by the hands of Laurence de Henton, and the said Nicholas received them without hindrance until the death of the said John.

	Writ of certiorari to the sheriff of Anglesey, 1 May, 12 Edw. I.
Anglesey.	Inq. (undated.) He was not seised on the day he died of any land, for he held of Sir Owen (who was?) against Llewellyn, sometime prince, on the day when he was taken, and the same Griffin was outlawed from Wales, and died in England, but when he took his way to England he was seised of a fourth part of the town of Klegyrant, which he had of the gift of David son of Llewellyn then prince of Wales, and a small town called Bodwrdyn, and the town of Thlysleu which he had of the gift of Owen sometime prince. These he had besides his part of the inheritance of his father, which land Tudor and Mereduth his sons now hold.

[Devon.]	Extent, Monday after St. Hilary, 12 Edw. I. Tyverton borough. The manor, with the foreign hundred (extent given), including 110a. in the marshes, 160a. hill land, and three fairs; and there is a church, whereof a fourth part is appropriated to the priory of St. James near Exeter, and the other three parts were in the gift of the said Amice.
Dorset.	Extent, Saturday the feast of St. Vincent, 12 Edw. I. (defective.) Edbrytyngton, alias Edbrichton. The manor (extent given), similarly held. Chyld Acford. The manor (extent given) was held by the said Amice for her life ... Henry his heirs and assigns 4 marks yearly, so that after her decease ... as (his ?) right without contradiction of the heirs of the said (Amice ?). Writ of plenius certiorari, on the complaint of Isabel de Fortibus, countess of Albemarle, that the escheator was detaining from her the manor of Childokeford by reason of a claim of John de Clerbeck, 25 April, 12 Edw. I.
Dorset.	Inq. Wednesday after the Ascension, 12 Edw. I. Childocford. Baldwin de Ripariis, sometime earl of Devon, father of the said Isabel, was seised of the manor of Childocford on the day he died, and the said Amice was dowered thereof of the gift of the said Baldwin, sometime her husband, by the assignment of King Henry. The said Isabel is next heir of the said Baldwin of the said manor, for the said Amice survived Baldwin son of the said earl and her own son, and also John son of the said Baldwin the younger, to whom the said inheritance ought to have devolved unless she had survived them; and the said Isabel is aged 30 and more. The jury know nothing of the right which John de Clerebek claims to have in the manor, nor how a right therein could come to him.

He has been an idiot (fatuus) from his earliest age, and holds a messuage and 7 carucates land (unspecified) of Sir Nicholas de Stutevile by service of 10s. and scutage; 16a. land of the manor of Hengham by service of 6s. yearly; 4a. land (unspecified) of Sir Guy de Butetur by service of 4s. yearly ; a messuage and 21a. land (unspecified) of Robert Noth by service of 8s. yearly; and 6a. of alderwood of John de Breckles by service of 6d. yearly.

	Writ of certiorari to Roger Lestrange, Justice of the Forest, on the petition of John son of Hugh, keeper of the forest of Salop, 12 Dec. 12 Edw. I.
Salop.	Inq. Monday after Palm Sunday, 12 Edw. I. La Wrokene. The wardship of the bailiwick late of the said Roger in la Wrokene does not pertain to the king, but to the said John, until the lawful age of the heir of the said Roger ; and his ancestors have had it whenever it happened, and it pertains to the office of the said John, for he ought to answer for the whole care of the forest. The manor (full partition with the names of tenants and of many cultures, meadows &c.), including the wood of Waldhey, the keepership of the wood of Olney, ½ knight's fee in Emberton, 1 knight's fee in Shenle, ½ knight's fee in Woketon, and 1 knight's fee in Alecote. Northampton.	Inq. (undated.) Geytynton. A burgage held of the grant of King Henry the king's father, rendering 8d. yearly; and another burgage which was sometine an oxhouse of the king, rendering 15d. These burgages are the king's escheat because the said Ralph was a bastard and had no heir of his body.
Northampton.	Memorandum (undated). Geytington. A burgage is in the king's hands through the death of the said Ralph, for which he rendered 8d. yearly to the king; one Roger de Geytington seeks for it to be extended and to have it for the value and the said rent.

Northampton.	Inq. Thursday before St. Michael, 13 Edw. I. Staunford. 9s. 2d. rent, now in the king's hands through the death of the said John, held of the barony of Launvaley of the king in chief by knight's service, and it pertains to the manor of Wakerle which Hawis, his daughter, holds in her pourparty of the said John's inheritance. He had two daughters and heirs, Dervergulla whom Robert son of Walter married, and Hawis whom Robert Greyll' married.

I., the said Maud 15 at Christmas, 12 Edw. I., and the said Isabel 13 at the feast of St. Nicholas, [13] Edw. I. (See No. 572.)

Northumberland.	Inq. Saturday after the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 12 Edw. I. The said Robert, son and heir of the said Eustace, was 21 on the day of St. Alban, 12 Edw. I., and the jury know it well, for he was born in the manor of Seton de la Val and baptized in the church of Seton, as is testified by clergy and laity. Letter from G. de Charron to the chancellor praying him to expedite the business of Robert de la Val, the bearer, in doing homage to the king and having seisin of his lands.

Huntingdon.	Inq. (undated.) Southo. 40s. rent with other lands were jointly purchased by Roger de Leyburne and Eleanor, sometime countess of Winchester, who was his wife, to be held to them and the heirs of the said Roger; and the said countess gave them to the said Henry for life, after whose death they were taken into the king's hand, because held of him in chief. William de Leyburn, son of the said Roger, is his next heir and of full age. (See No. 525.)

[Dorset.]	Inq. taken at Craneborne before John Frelond on Thursday before the Nativity of St. John, 12 Edw. I. (In French.) Stubhamptone. A messuage, 1 virgate land, and pasture for cattle, sheep &c. in the pasture with the beasts of the lord of Tarente Gundevyle, which Monsieur Damori alias Daumary holds of the inheritance of the said John, who claims to hold the same by service of ½ lb. cummin yearly. The said John is next heir to the said tenements and of full age.

	Writ de etate probanda to Walter de Wymburn and Richard de Heydon, 6 July, 12 Edw. I. Writ of scire facias to the sheriff of Dorset, 6 July, 12 Edw. I.
Dorset.	Inq. Monday before St. Peter ad Vincula, 12 Edw. I. Richard de Haveringes, knt., says that the said John was 21 on the day of the Translation of St. Swithin, 12 Edw. I., and was baptized in the church of St. Nicholas, Cumbe Chaynes, which he understands from the relation of godmothers and midwives who were present when he was born, and of religious and other trustworthy persons of the neighbourhood. Adam le Deneys, Henry de Haddune, and Robert de Turbervyle, knights, and others agree, one adding that (he knew it from) a midwife called Katherine de Novo Burgo who was present with the said John's mother when he was born. Writ to Hugh de Kendal to cause the said John to have a writ of seisin, the king having taken his homage and fealty, 11 Aug. 12 Edw. I.
