	Writ, 20 March, 1 Edw. I.
[Bedford.]	Inq. The eve of St. George the Martyr, 1 Edw. I. Kayno. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by a moiety of a barony. His three sisters, Isabel aged 23, Christiana aged 21½, and Joan aged 19½, are his heirs.
[Bedford.]	Extent, Saturday after SS. Fabian and Sebastian. Kaynho. The manor (extent given), except land and rent worth 14s. 4d. which pertains to the dower of Eline mother of the said Simon, held of the king in chief for a moiety of a barony, finding 1½ knight for 40 days at his own cost when the king shall go in the army in England. Heirs as above, unless Emma late the wife of the said Simon is pregnant. Endorsed: Fees of the Barony of Kaynho. The Lady of Mersetun, 2½ fees. Ralph son of Richard, ½ fee. Wyot de Tuyne, ½ fee. Derby.	Inq. Saturday in Easter week, 1 Edw. I. Kayho in co. Bedford held of the king by service of hauberk fee. Catton. 3 virgates land &c. (extent given), held of the earl of Ferrars. His three sisters are his heirs, and the youngest is 15 and more.
Northampton.	Inq. (undated.) Great Houtton. 2 carucates land and the advowson of the church were sometime held by the said Simon of Henry de Hastinges by doing suit at his court of Barton, but he did not die seised thereof, for he enfeoffed Anketil de Martivallis thereof 3 years before his death for life, who agreed to pay nothing for the first 4 years, but afterwards 24l. yearly for his life to the said Simon and his heirs; but the said Simon died seised of 8a. 3½r. land and a messuage there, worth 8s., which he had of the demise of Robert de Nodariis, finding him for his life necessary food and clothing and 1 quarter of corn, and to the said Anketil 13d. yearly. He died on Saturday after St. Nicholas, 1 Edw. I. Heirs as yet apparent, as above and of full age; but the jury believe that Emma late his wife is pregnant.
Cambridge.	Inq. Sunday before the Purification, 1 Edw. I. [Stapleford?] 108a. arable, 1a. meadow and a messuage, held of the king in chief by service of ½ knight's fee when scutage runs, which service the bishop of Ely receives on account of his Liberty; of which tenement Avelina mother of the said Simon holds ⅓ in dower. He had three children (pueros) by his wife, who are his next heirs if living, if not, his three sisters are his next heirs.

Derby.	Inq. Sunday the feast of St. Vincent, 1 Edw. I. Tibeschelw, held of the king in chief for 1 knight's fee. Wynefeld, held of Sir Robert de Pavilli in chief for 1 knight's fee, rendering 20s. to the nuns of Derby. Brakinweyt, held of Sir Roger de Le Auney by service of 20s. Heir as above, aged 31.

13.	Ralph Wymer.
	Writ, 28 April, 1 Edw. I.
Stafford.	Inq. (undated.) Stafford. The keepership of the king's fishpond (vivarii) outside the eastern gate of the town, held in this manner that when the king shall be pleased to fish there the king shall have all the pike (lupos aquaticos) and bream, and the said Ralph and his heirs all the other fishes, and the same when it shall please the king to break the pond, rendering ½ mark yearly to the king through the hands of the sheriff; and 4 mills at the western part of the town with their fisheries, worth 20 marks beyond the rent, held of the baron of Stafford, rendering 10 marks yearly and 1lb. pepper. Le Lombercote. Three parts of 1 carucate land pertaining to the manor of Merston near Stafford, held of the prior of Ware rendering 2s. Homerwyck. 1 carucate land and 3s. rent, held of the bishop of Chester, rendering 6s. yearly and one free hog price 2s. He died on Monday after the feast of the Blessed Mary in March, 1 Edw. I. Henry Wymer his brother is his next heir, and of full age.

Derby.	Inq. Innocent's day, 1 Edw. I. Staveley. The manor held of the king in chief by service of 1 knight's fee. Nicholas Musart his brother, aged 32, is his next heir. Writ commanding a fuller extent to be made, that Maud late the wife of the said Ralph may be assigned her dower. 1 Dec. 1 Edw. I.
Gloucester.	Extent, Monday before St. Gregory, 1 Edw. I. Sudint[on]. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by service of barony, one knight's fee being held by Geoffrey de Langeleye, rendering nothing.
Gloucester.	Extent, Thursday before St. Gregory, 1 Edw. I. Seineburi. Two parts of the manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by service of barony. Aston. The manor, pertaining to Seineburi manor was held by John de Aston by knight's service.
Gloucester.	Extent, Monday before St. Gregory, 1 Edw. I. La Musarder. The manor (extent given) with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief by service of barony. Summary of the value of the lands of the said Ralph in the king's hands, and of the manor of Sodinton which the wife of the said Ralph has in tenancy. (See Hen. III. No. 784.)

[Cambridge.]	Inq. Tuesday after the Conception of the Blessed Mary, 1 Edw. I. Coueye alias Couue. One hide and 10a. land, held of the king in chief by service of 44d. (?) sheriff's aid, and ¼ knight's fee. Coueye. The close of the manor with lands, mills, and fisheries worth 20l. yearly, held of the bishop of Ely for 1 knight's fee. Walter his son, will be 22 at the Feast of the Holy Trinity next.
Buckingham.	Inq. made in Eyl[esburi], Thursday before St. Thomas the Apostle, 1 Edw. I. [Lotegaresal ?] A place is (sic) held of the king by Sir John de Trali sometime lord of Lotegaresal, rendering 2s., and by exaction of the court he shall come to the court but not otherwise; and ½ knight's fee held of Sir Gilbert earl of Gloucester. Heir as above, of full age.
Bedford.	Inq. Friday after St. Nicholas, 1 Edw. I. Noryivill, held of the king in chief by barony for 1 fee. Sutyvell. 1 knight's fee, and Ralph Gacelyn held Sutyivell of the said John. Giveldene with Chelington, held of the earl of Gloucester, of whom he held 4 fees in divers counties. Wouton. 2 carucates land, held of the barony of Bedford. Ravenesden, held of Geoffrey Gacelin for ½ fee. Heir as above. Note.—That the earl of Gloucester holds seisin of the manor of Givelden with Chelweton, and has seised ½ fee in Lotegareshal, which was held of him; so that the escheator has no possession.

The manor and borough (extent given), including rents of tenants in Lodynton, pleas, &c. of the hundred, and a wood called Peninak one league in length from the boundaries of the manors of Seggesle and Suyneford in co. Stafford, and ½ league in breadth, tenure unspecified.
[Worcester.]	Extent, Friday the octave of St. Michael, 1 Edw. I. Woleye. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by knight's service as member of the barony of Dudeley. Cradeley. The manor (extent given), including 12d. rent of the mill of Ruleye, tenure unspecified. Heir as above, aged 18 at the feast of St. Margaret in the said year.
[Stafford.]	Extent, Sunday before St. Denis, 1 Edw. I. Mere. The manor (extent given). It was sometime the king's demesne, but king John enfeoffed Ralph de Somery, grandfather of the said Sir Roger, thereof for 10 marks yearly to be rendered by the hands of the sheriff of Stafford. Heir as above.

Isabel de Albaniaco, countess of Arundell, has a part of the foreign manor and borough in dower worth 100s. yearly, which she recovered against the said Roger before the justices of the Bench; and he drew to warrant Roger de Muhaut and John son of Alan, and has received yearly 50s. from the former at Coventry and 50s. from the latter at Arundell, which pertain to the manor of Campeden whilst the said countess lives. The manor (full extent given with names of tenants) including 7 bovates land in Wyleby held by Elias de Brademere of the fee of Mortain (Martini) rendering 2s. yearly; 3 virgates held by William the clerk of Ravenneston and his partners rendering 3s.; Thorpbossard held by Hugh Bossard for ¼ knight's fee; Nayleston manor held by the heirs of Henry de Hastingges, rendering nothing but suit of court; and 3 virgates in Fruseby held by Preciosa de Staunton, rendering 1 quiver and 13 barbed arrows; all held, of the inheritance of the said Nicholaa, of the king in chief of the honour of Chester, doing service of one knight to the king in the army in Wales. [Northampton.]	Extent, Tuesday the morrow of St. Edmund the King, 1 (sic) Edw. I. Berouby alias Berwby. The manor (extent given), including 13 virgates land in Onlee, with the advowson of the church, held of the king in chief, service unknown; and the master of the hospital of the Holy Trinity without Northampton used to receive 4s. yearly, which the queen's steward caused to be detained.
Wilts.	Extent and Inq. The morrow of the Circumcision, 2 Edw. I. Calne. A third part of the borough with the foreign hundred (extent given), including a rent called 'chireshut,' 4 virgates land called Burelond, and services called 'chuppingavel' and 'brewingavel,' held of the king in chief, paying 15l. yearly at the exchequer. Milisanda the wife of Eudo la Zuche, of full age, and John, son of Henry and Joan de Hastinges, who is under age and in the king's wardship, are his next heirs.
Wilts.	Inq. and extent, the eve of the Epiphany, 2 Edw. I. Bryhtmerston. The manor (full extent given with names of tenants), including a pasture called Hulmede, with the advowson of the chapel of Mildeston, held of the king in chief by knight's service. Mildeston. Devon.	Inq. and extent, Tuesday after St. Hilary, 2 Edw. I. Cornewrthy. The manor (full extent given), with the advowson of the poor priory, which has the church to it's own uses, held of the king in chief as member of the barony of Totnes. Dertemue. The market and harbour (extent given), free in itself but a member of the borough of Totnes. Heirs as above.
Devon.	Extent and Inq. Wednesday after St. Hilary, 2 Edw. I. Totnes. The borough (full extent given), including a place called the castle of Totnes (Totton') with a ruined chamber, chapel, &c. and rents called 'ysgavel,' 'estergavel,' 'frigavel,' 'gangavel' and 'chepgavel,' held of the king in chief, by reason of his pourparty of the lands &c. which were of William de Brewosa. Lodeswille. The manor (extent given), with the advowson of the church, is held of Totnes, rendering 40s. yearly; and the lord of the borough renders 26s. 8d. yearly to the priory of St. Nicholas, Exeter, 13s. 4d. to the heirs of Sir Robert Bozun at Churcheton, and 6d. to Nicholas son of Martin. Two parts of the borough (extent given), and the foreign manor called Haygrave (full extent given with names of tenants), including land near the water of Pedrid, and in the field called Wodelond, meadows called Rismor, Landmede, and Ferthling, pastures called Warth, Buridich, and Mordich, and land in Godyinelonde, and Werne; all held of the king in chief, service unknown, but by reason of his pour-party of the inheritance of William de Bruere. Somerset.	Heygrave, 20l. 2s. ½d. Proof of age before the king's council at Westminster, Sunday in three weeks of Easter, viz. the eve of SS. Philip and James, 1 Edw. I. Brother Peter prior of H(e)nton says that George de Cantilupo was born at Bergeveny on Good Friday 35 or 36 Hen. III., for he was chaplain to William de Cantilupo, grandfather of the said George, and when the said George was born was engaged about the execution of the said William's will, who died the year of George's birth or in the preceding year; and the report of the county is that the said George is 21 on Good Friday last. Brother John master of the hospital of St. Mark, Billeswyk, without Bristoll, says he knows the said George was 21 on Good Friday last, from the report of the country, and because he was ordained to the priesthood 25 years ago, and the said George's father died at Calveston 18 years ago, and the said George was born three years before at Bergeveny: he is sure of this because he came from the parts of Calveston. Alan de Wauton (knight) agrees, and says the said George was 22 on Good Friday last, as he understands by the common report of the country, &c. Peter de Bruges says the said George was born twenty-one years ago last Good Friday, which he knows because he was then at Bridgwater (Bruges Walteri) with the constable of the castle, who held the hundred court when the report came of the said George's birth, and one or two years after King Henry crossed into Gascony. Robert de Trillek agrees, and knew it by inspection of the chronicles in the priory of Bergeney, and he heard men of Bergeveny disputing about it, who at last agreed as above. Thomas Creyk agrees, and knew it because Anastasia his wife was first married to Richard Wason in that year, who had by her a son who is now canon at Briweton, and who was born on the feast of All Saints twenty-one years ago, and the said George on Good Friday following. Robert Blundel (knight) knew it well because he was sent as messenger to Bergeveny by Sir Th. Corbet to seek his lord's land of Lydeham, and on Wednesday of Easter week found the wife of the said William lying in childbed with the said George. John de Baskervill (knight) agrees, and knew it by the relation of knights and others of the country. Henry Murdak (knight) says the same. John Faukes of Dertemuth agrees, and knew it by inspection of the chronicles of Totnes priory. William de Merle (knight) agrees, and knew it by the oath of Sir Adam de Gurdun and others who were of the household (familia) of William de Cantilupo the father of the said George. John de Pycheford (knight) agrees, adding that he espoused a kinswoman of the said George, viz. the daughter of William de Ebroicis, and diligently enquired the age of the said George from Sir Adam de Gurdun and Sir Robert de Tregoz and others of the said household. Sir Hugh Pouynz his son and heir was seised of the manor of the gift of his father, and was in seisin for ½ a year and more before the death of his father, who did not die seised thereof. Ralph Pippard, son of his brother, aged 28 and more, is his next heir. Be it known that the said Robert had in co. Dorset a manor called Cynnok, of which he did not die vested in seisin because Sir Ralph de Bakepuz held and holds it of the gift of King Henry by the Dictum de Kenelyworth, as is said; and Sir Robert Waliraunt held a manor in co. Wilts called Harham which was of the said Robert in a similar manner.
