He died seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned knight’s fees.
Orwelle and Armyngton. 2 knight’s fees, lately held by the heirs of the earl of Winchester.
Lyttelyngton. A fourth part of a knight’s fee, held by William Notton; and a moiety of a knight’s fee, held by the same William.
Bodekysham. One knight’s fee, held by the prior of Anglyshey, William Wolf, Maurice Stoowe, Robert Paschelew, William Magote, Geoffrey Porter, John Jemys and Walter Myttylneye.

He was seised of the under-mentioned manor, leets and fees.
Swereford. The manor, which is of the fee Doylly and is held by service of one knight’s fee. Of what lord it is held the jurors know not.
Hethe, Shaldewell and Fynmere. Leets to be held at Michaelmas, Martinmas and Michaelmas respectively, each worth 2s. yearly and no more because the earl of March is to have all the other profits.
Fynmere. One knight’s fee, formerly held by Osbert Fynmere.
Boreford. A moiety of a knight’s fee, lately held by the heirs of Geoffrey Fynecourt.
The above fees are held of the king in chief as parcel of the honor of Gloucester.
The earl died on Tuesday before Michaelmas, 10 Richard II. Thomas de Stafford, aged 18 years on the feast of the Annunciation, 10 Richard II, is his son and heir.

Blacchynglegh. The manor, with the borough and other appurtenances, held of the king in chief, as of the honor of Clare, by knight’s service and a rent of 5s. called ‘parkselver’ to be paid to the sheriff yearly for the king’s use.

SURREY. Inq. (indented) taken at Lambith, Thursday in the quinzaine of Easter, 10 Richard II.
The archbishop of Canterbury appeared before the jurors and produced probate of the testament of the said earl in a public instrument, wherein it is stated that the earl died on Tuesday before Michaelmas last. With the said archbishop came the bishop of Hereford, treasurer of England, John lord de Cobeham, Sir Richard Scrop and Sir John Deveros, who are of the king’s council, and swore on their honour that Sir Richard Lodelowe, knight, and many others, with a certain priest who was the earl’s confessor, swore in their presence before the council that the said Richard was with the earl at the time of his death and that the earl died on the said Tuesday. The jurors, giving credence to the said lords, say on their oath that the earl died on that day.

KENT. Inq. taken at Tonebregge, Tuesday before St. Valentine, 10 Richard II.
He died seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned manor, castle &c.
Ealdenge. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by homage and service of half a knight’s fee, as of the honor of Clare. The extent includes a watermill at Twyforde.
Edonebregge. A tenement, held of the abbot of Westminster by service of a pair of gilt spurs yearly.
Tonebregge. The castle with its members, to wit, Dacheherst and Hadlo, held of the archbishop of Canterbury by homage and service of being the archbishop’s steward on the day of his translation. The manor of Dacheherst is charged with yearly payments of 10 marks to the prior and convent of Tonebregge and 3s. 10d. to the prior of Rochester.
Brastede. A yearly rent of 40 marks from the manor, which manor the earl, long before his death, demised at farm to John de Fremyngham for life at the above rent. The manor is held of the archbishop of Canterbury by homage and service of being his butler on the day of his translation.
The earl died on 24 October last. Heir as above.

MARCH OF WALES ADJACENT TO GLOUCESTER. Inq. taken at Neuport, Monday after St. Matthias, 10 Richard II.
He was seised in his demesne as of fee of the under-mentioned castle, manor, advowsons and knight’s fees.
Neuport. The castle with the town of Neuport, and the lordship with its members, to wit, Stowe, Penkarn, Dyueles, Rempny, Deffren and Ebboth (extent given). The extent includes 10l. rent of assise of the free borough in the said town, the fishery of the arm of the sea called ‘Uske’, lands &c. in the lordship of Wenllouk near the said castle, pleas &c. of the court of the borough and lordship, and of the hundred of Wenllouk, demesne lands, rents, services and courts in the aforesaid members of the lordship, and a fishery of the river of Ebboth.
Maghan. The manor, lordship and forest, annexed to the aforesaid lordship of Wenllouk (extent given). The extent includes 2 fulling-mills and passage of the said forest.
Maghan, Bedewas and Migheleston. The advowsons of the churches.
Basselek. One knight’s fee, held by Laurence Barkerolles.
Ebboth. One knight’s fee, held by John, duke of Lancaster.

Writ to the escheator in co. Gloucester—on a report that the manor of Estyngton and the advowson of the church of that town were not returned into the Chancery among the other lands &c. late of Hugh, late earl of Stafford, because certain persons, scheming to defraud the king of the custody of the said manor and advowson, alleged that they had been enfeoffed thereof by the said earl long before his death, whereas in fact the earl merely demised the manor at farm to certain persons and took the profit thereof until his death, and moreover, not long before his death, presented a parson to the church in his own right on an exchange of benefices—to enquire as to the said report. 14 March, 10 Richard II.

On Thursday before the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 5 Richard II, the earl enfeoffed Nicholas Stafford, knight, and others, of the manor of Estyngton with the advowson of the church thereof, to hold to them and their heirs for ever, without retaining anything for himself. After the said feoffment the earl made no demise of the said manor and advowson at farm or otherwise, not did he present any parson to the church on an exchange of benefices.

He held the under-mentioned castle, manors, knight’s fees, &c. in his demesne as of fee.
Stafford. The castle (extent given), with the advowson of the free chapel therein. The extent includes a park.
Bradeley. The manor (extent given), with the members annexed thereto, to wit, Bylington, Wolaston, Shradicote, Longenorle, Stretton, Dunston, Coppenhale and Castelforbrugg, with the advowson of the church of the manor and the advowson of the hospital of St. John the Baptist.
Le Hide. Two-thirds of the manor (extent given, including two-thirds of a park).
In the above castle, manor and two-thirds of a manor there are rents of assise of 32l. 13s. 2 1/2d. and 6 barbed arrows, and also a view of frankpledge held twice a year at Castelforbrugg, together with the pleas and perquisites of a court held there every three weeks.
Madeley under Lyme. The manor (extent given, including a fulling-mill and 2 parks). In the said manor with the hamlet of Radewode there is 16l. 13s. 8d. of rent of assise, and also a view of frankpledge held there twice a year, together with the pleas and perquisites of a court held there every three weeks.
Stone. The advowson of the priory.
Norton on ‘les Mores’. The manor, with the hamlet of Gratton and 10 marks rent in Tylyngton, held for life by Nicholas Stafford, knight, by way of fee, by grant of the said earl with the king’s licence, rendering 4 marks yearly to the earl and his heirs. The earl was seised of the said 4 marks on the day of his death, and the reversion of the manor, hamlet and rent pertains to his heirs.
All the above are held of the king in chief by knight’s service, except the hamlet of Gratton and certain lands &c. in the manor of Norton called ‘Baddeley’, which are held of the lord de Audeley, as of his manor of Endon.
Kyngespol. A fishpool so called, under the town of Stafford, with a watermill at the head thereof, held of the king at fee-farm, rendering 2 marks yearly at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff.
Stafford. 3 messuages and 3 tofts in the borough, and the reversion of a messuage in Stafford held for life by Nicholas de Stafford, knight, and Elizabeth his wife, by grant of the earl, all held of the king in free burgage.
