1.	Thomas le Pratt
	Writ of certiorari super modo et causa capcionis touching the lands of the said Thomas in Stretton, Fenton, South Leverton, Wyston and Claworth. 3 February, 7 Richard II.
	Writ to Thomas Staunton, late escheator, to return without delay the inquisition which he was lately ordered to take. 3 February, 10 Richard II.
NOTTINGHAM.	Inq. taken at Stretton, Monday, 24 May, 7 Richard II.
	The said Thomas was seised of the under-mentioned rent. Stretton, Fenton, Sowlevverton and Wyston. 22s. 8d. and 1lb. pepper rent of assise from certain lands etc. in those places. The said lands etc., with other lands etc. in Grenlay by Retford, are held of the king in service, to wit, by service of a pair of gilt spurs yearly at Whitsun. The said rent was taken by the escheator of Edward III and is still in the king’s hand because Thomas alienated it in his lifetime without licence of Edward III. No other lands of the said Thomas in the above towns or elsewhere in the county were ever taken into the hands of Edward III. Beatrice the wife of John de Craftes, daughter and heir of William le Pratt son and heir of the said Thomas, is next heir of Thomas, and is 30 years of age and more.

2.	Richard de Pakenham
	Writ, 27 August, 7 Richard II
SUFFOLK.	Inq. (indented) taken at Ixeworth, Saturday after the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, 7 Richard II.
	He held the under-mentioned manor of Nethirhall for life, the reversion thereof belonging to the abbot of St. Edmund and his successors by virtue of a fine levied in the king’s court in the quinzaine of Michaelmas, 43 Edward III, whereby Ralph de Hemenhale, to whom and whose heirs the manor ought to revert after the death of Richard, with the king’s licence granted his reversion to the abbot and his successors and the church of St. Edmund. Richard attorned to the abbot by virtue of the fine and licence aforesaid. He held the under-mentioned manor of Asshefeld for life by gift of John Cove, parson of the church of Berdewell, and John Martell to him and Joan, sometime his wife, for their lives, with remainder to John son of Richard Filiol, knight, John de Rookwode, Roger de Wolferston and John Rokele and their heirs. The gift was made by a fine levied in the king’s court and with the king’s licence. He held the under-mentioned land in Great Asshefeld, Little Asshefeld and Wederden for life by gift of Thomas de Ikworth, who is still living, and William de Walsham, with reversion to the donors and their heirs. The said William is dead, and William his son, aged 7 years and more, is his heir. Nethirhall of Pakyngham. The manor, held of the abbot of St. Edmund, service not known. Asshefeld. The manor (except a carucate of land, 8 a. meadow, 24 a. wood and 50s. rent therein late of Walter de Saxham, knight), held of the king in chief by service of one knight’s fee and by paying 16s. yearly at the castle of Norwich and doing suit to the hundred of Blakebourn every three weeks. The premises late of the said Walter are held partly of the abbot of St. Edmund and partly of Robert de Asshefeld, services not known. Great Asshefeld, Little Asshefeld and Wederden. A carucate of land formerly belonging to Aubrey de Wykes, held of the aforesaid John son of Richard Fyliol, knight, John de Rookwode, Roger de Wolferston and John Rokele, as of their manor of Asshefeld, services not known. Richard died on Friday before St. Bartholomew in this year. Anne his daughter, aged 11 years and more, is his next heir in blood.

3.	Elizabeth late the wife of John Pygot, knight
	Writ after the death of the said Elizabeth, who held by knight’s service of the abbey of Westminster, the temporalities of which are in the king’s hand for certain causes. 24 September, 7 Richard II.
LINCOLN.	Inq. taken at Lincoln, Monday after Michaelmas, 7 Richard II. (Thirteen jurors).
	She held the under-mentioned manor in joint feoffment with John, her husband, to them and the heirs of John’s body. Dodyngton. The manor, held of the abbot of Westminster in chief by knight’s service, rendering to the abbot 12l. yearly. There are 3 ‘fysshegarthes’ in the river Trent and 400 a. underwood. She died on 30 August last. John son of the said John and Elizabeth, aged 10 years and more, is their heir.

4.	Thomas Playce, knight
	Writ of precipimus, Salisbury, 26 May, 7 Richard II
YORK.	Inq. taken at New Malton, 25 June, 8 Richard II, by the oath of fifteen jurors, and of a sixteenth juror to inform the others.
	The said Thomas held no lands etc. in the county because he died 18 years before his father William Playce, knight. He had a son and heir named William Playce, knight, who died 6 years and more before the death of the same William. William Playce, the younger, had a son and heir William Playce, who is still living and is 22 years of age and more. William Playce, father of Thomas, who died about 16 years ago, held the following:— Norton by Malton. 4 messuages and 13 bovates of land, held of John de Moubray, lord of Axiholme, tenant of the king in chief, as of the fee of Moubray, as of his manor of Thresk, co. York, by knight’s service. The said John was then a minor in the wardship of Edward III. Neweton Playce. A capital messuage and 2 carucates of land, held of John Coursy, as of the fee of Moubray belonging to the said John de Moubray’s manor of Thresk. Knapton by Scameston. 2 messuages and 6 bovates of land, held as of the fee of Vescy by knight’s service. Dugilby. Lands etc. worth 5 marks yearly, held as of the fee of Vescy by knight’s service. William de Aton, knight, who survives, had possession of all the premises for 15 years following the death of William Playce, father of Thomas, and received the issues thereof, title not known. Since then the present William Playce has had possession and received the issues. The said William Playce, father of Thomas, also held the following:— Thresk. A messuage, a toft and a carucate of land, held as the premises in Norton above. Cuthbert Capon had possession of these for 11 years following the death of the said William father of Thomas, and received the issues, title not known. Since then the present William Playce has had possession and received the issues. Kirkby in Krendale and Multhorp. Lands etc. worth 9l. yearly, held of Peter de Maulay, as of the fee of Moubray, by knight’s service. Thomas de Maulay and Robert de Grenewode, parson of the church of Staynton ‘in the Strete’, had possession of these for 13 years following the death of the said William father of Thomas, and received the issues, title not known. Since then the present William Playce has had possession and received the issues.

	Commission to John Seint Johan, knight, Thomas Graa, Thomas de Etton, Thomas de Burnham, John de Baxeby and Stephen de Herlethorp to enquire, in amplification of the above inquisition, as to the value of the said lands in Norton, who has had possesssion of them and received the issues since the death of William Playce, father of Thomas, whether William son of William son of Thomas Playce is married, and if so, to whom, by whom, when, and by what title, and of what value the marriage is; also to enquire what lands etc. ought by right to have belonged to Edward III or the present king by reason of the minority of John son and heir of the above-mentioned John de Moubray, and of Thomas brother and heir of the said John son of John, how much they are worth and who has had possession of them and received the issues, whether the heirs of the said lands have been married without the king’s licence, and if so, by whom, how much the marriages are worth, and touching all reliefs, escheats, profits etc. which ought to pertain to the king by reason of the above minorities. 8 March, 11 Richard II.
	Endorsed with a note of the return of all the inquisitions taken in pursuance of the above commission.

YORK.	Inq. taken at Holme in Rydale, Wednesday after Easter, 11 Richard II, before Thomas de Etton and Stephen de Herlethorp.
	Norton and Sutton by Malton. 4 messuages, 6 tofts, 14 1/2 bovates of land, a moiety of a watermill and a moiety of a fulling-mill there, which William Playce, father of Thomas, who died about 19 years ago, held of John de Moubray of Axiholm, knight, late a minor in the wardship of Edward III, by knight’s service, are worth 18l. 6s. 5 1/2d. yearly. William de Aton, knight, now deceased, John Codelyng, clerk, and John Amyas had possession of them and received the issues for about 12 years, namely, from the time of the death of the said William father of Thomas until the full age of William son of William son of the same Thomas, who was 9 years old at the time of the death. The said William son of William then entered on the lands etc. as his right and inheritance, and received the issues until the Invention of the Holy Cross last, when he died, being then in seisin of the premises and 4 messuages and a carucate of land in Thresk. He held all the said lands etc. of Thomas Moubray, earl Marshal, earl of Nottingham and lord de Segrave, a minor in the king’s wardship, as of his manor of [Thresk], by knight’s service. Who has had possession since his death the jurors know not. He was married by Thomas de Hatfeld, late bishop of Durham, to Margaret daughter of Thomasia de Furnyvall, [by what title] the jurors know not. The marriage was worth 200 marks. Elizabeth [his daughter], aged 7 years, is his heir. She is in the custody of the said Thomasia and Margaret, and her marriage is worth 300l. Brandesby and Steresby. The manors, late of John de la Ryvere, who died on Christmas day, 2(?) Richard II, are held of the said Thomas Moubray, as of his manor of Thresk, by knight’s service, and should descend by hereditary right to Marmaduke, son of William de la Ryvere son and heir of the said John, now 19 years of age. They ought to pertain to the king by reason of the minority of the heirs aforesaid, because, although the said John de la Ryvere long before his death enfeoffed William Canon, Thomas de Britby and Richard de Overton, chaplains, thereof, to hold in fee simple, nevertheless it was and is a condition of the feoffment that the said feoffees should enfeoff the said Marmaduke thereof when he reached full age, so that the feoffment was made in fraud of the statute. The feoffees have received the issues since the death of John for the use of Marmaduke. The said heir was married by John during his lifetime. Malton. The manor, together with the towns of Brumpton, Langton, Salden, Sutton, Knapton, Alde Malton, Howe, Wycombe, Hoton, Wyntryngham in Bukrosse, Scampston, Shirburn, Thorpbasset, Plumpton, Mulwath, Goldesburgh, Swynton, Suthholme, Wymbilton, Muscotes, Bergh, Neusom, Holm in Spaldyngmore, Feriby, Willardby and Brewton, parcels of the said manor, ought to have pertained to Edward III and ought to pertain to the king because William Vescy, knight, formerly held it with its parcels of John son of Roger Moubray, knight, as of his manor of Thresk, by knight’s service, to wit, by service of 15 1/2 knight’s fees, and died in seisin without heir, and after his death it ought to have pertained to the said John son of Roger as his escheat, and from him the right descended to John his son and heir, and from him to John his son and heir, and from him to John Moubray his son and heir, earl of Nottingham, who was long a minor in the wardship of the late and present kings, and from the said earl, now deceased, to Thomas his brother and heir, earl Marshal, earl of Nottingham and lord de Segrave, a minor in the king’s wardship; and so, by reason of the minority of the said heirs, the escheat ought to have pertained to Edward III and ought to pertain to the present king. William de Aton, knight, entered the said manor with its parcels while John the earl was a minor in the wardship of Edward III, and received the issues all his life, by what title the jurors know not, and died in seisin on Tuesday after St. Laurence, 11 Richard II. Katherine wife of Ralph de Evere, knight, Anastasia wife of Edward Seint John, knight, and Elizabeth wife of John Conier, knight, are daughters and heirs of the said William de Aton, and each of them is over 23 years of age.

	Writ to the sheriff, reciting that the king lately ordered him, with reference to the finding of the above inquisition as to lands etc. in Norton and Sutton by Malton, to warn the executors of the will of William de Aton, and also John Codelyng, clerk, and John Amyot, to be before the king in Chancery on a day now past to show cause why the issues of the said lands received by the said William, John and John should not be answered for to the king, and that he returned that he had warned the said John and John, and also Richard de Setryngton, clerk, Thomas Barry, William del Chambre of Aton and John Codelyng, chaplain, four of the executors of William de Aton, to appear in Chancery accordingly, and that, as for William del Hall of Whiteby, the fifth executor, he had ordered John Gower, bailiff of the liberty of Whiteby, to complete the return, but had received no answer from him; and ordering the said sheriff not to refrain on account of the said liberty from entering the liberty and warning the said William del Hall to be before the king in Chancery in the octave of Hilary next to show cause etc., as above.
	Endorsed by the sheriff that the said William del Hall has been warned accordingly by John Scott of Whitby, John Smyth of Whitby, Robert de Marton and John Benett.

8.	Thomas Parker of Childernelangele
	Commission in the form of a writ of mandamus to William Rikhill, William Thirnyng, William de Naffreton, John Bredeford, escheator in co. Hertford, and William Kymburlay. 4 July, 7 Richard II.
	Commission to John del Hay, Geoffrey de Styuecle and William de Puttenham, king’s serjeant-at-arms, associating them in the above commission. 22 July, 7 Richard II.
	Notification of the said association to the original commissioners. 22 July, 7 Richard II.
HERTFORD.	Inq. (indented) taken at Chilternlangele, Monday after St. James, 7 Richard II, before John del Hay, William Thirnyng, Geoffrey Styuecle, William Puttenham and William Kymberlay.
	He held the under-mentioned premises for life under an indenture (quoted) dated at Langelee, 1 October, 4 Richard II, whereby Richard Parkere of Langelee Regis and Alice his wife demised them, under the name of all their lands etc. in the said towns (except the great wood), to Thomas Parkere, their son, to hold for the term of their lives, rendering 12 marks yearly and providing them with food and drink for their victuals, on condition that, if they should wish to have their victuals elsewhere, then he should render an additional 6 marks yearly, and that he should defend them against the king and all others from all services, rents and charges in respect of the said lands etc.; with proviso for re-entry in the event of his failing to observe the said conditions. Chilternlangele. A messuage, a toft, a carucate of land, a fulling-mill and 5 a. meadow, held of the king, as of his manor of Langele, by knight’s service. Hemlamsted. 3 a. enclosed wood and 7s. rent, held of the rector of Asshrugg by service of 2d. yearly and by suit to his court of Hemlamstede. The said Thomas died on 27 October last. Thomas his son, aged half a year, is his heir. Immediately after his death the said Richard and Alice entered on the premises because 13s. 4d. of the rent of the previous Michaelmas term was in arrear, and they have received the issues ever since his death. Thomas held no other lands etc. except a cottage with curtilage in Langele aforesaid which he held of the king by the rod and by the court roll there at the king’s pleasure.

	Commission in the form of a writ of mandamus to William Naffreton, Edmund Giffard, Edmund atte Broke and John atte Broke. Notyngham, 1 August, 7 Richard II.
HERTFORD.	Inq. (indented) taken at Berkhamstede, 12 January, 7 Richard II, before the above commissioners.
	He held the under-mentioned premises in fee tail, to him and the heirs male of his body, by gift of Richard Parker, his father. Childernelangle. A messuage, 160 a. land, 30 a. wood, 8 a. meadow and 2s. rent, held of the king, as of his manor of Childernelangle, by knight’s service, to wit, a fourth part of a knight’s fee, and by rendering 7s. 4 1/2d. yearly and doing suit to the court of the manor every three weeks. Hemelhamstede. 10 a. land and 2 a. wood, held of the rector of Assherugge by service of 2d. yearly. He held no other lands etc. in the county. He died on the feast of SS. Simon and Jude, 6 Richard II. Thomas his son, aged three-quarters of a year, is his heir. Since his death the said Richard Parker has had possession of the premises and received the issues, title not known.
	Writ to the escheator, in pursuance of the last above inquisition, to take into the king’s hand etc. all the lands etc. mentioned, as the custody of them ought to pertain to the king until the lawful age of the heir. 30 January, 7 Richard II.
	Endorsed by the escheator that he has done so.
10.
	Pleas before the king in Chancery on the morrow of the Purification, 7 Richard II. [HERTFORD]. The findings of the second of the above inquisitions are quoted. Whereupon John Rouland, clerk, Thomas Charleton, John Grove, William Cosseby, clerk, and William Corvyser, appearing in Chancery on the above date by John Kyrkeby, clerk, and John de Rolles, their attorneys, claim that the premises were held under the indenture quoted in the first inquisition, and allege that the rent of 12 marks is now in arrear to the extent of 40s. in respect of Michaelmas term, 6 Richard II, for which reason the said Richard Parker and Alice his wife, in accordance with the tenor of the indenture, entered in default of payment and afterwards, by a deed dated at Langele Regis, Sunday the morrow of St. Valentine, 6 Richard II, granted the premises, by the name of all lands etc. in Langele Regis and Hemlamstede late of Thomas Cheynduyt, to them (the petitioners) and a certain William Fymer, now deceased. The petitioners say that they were in seisin of the premises and continued their seisin until they were removed by the escheator by pretext of a king’s writ. They pray that the king’s hand may be removed from the premises. William Hornby, who sues for the king, says that Thomas held the premises in fee tail, as in the second inquisition. Both parties put themselves on the country, and a day is given to them to be before the king, wherever he may be in England, in the octave of the Purification next.

11.	Anne late countess of Pembroke
	Writ, 15 April, 7 Richard II
BEDFORD.	Inq. taken at Bedford, Thursday the feast of St. Thomas the Martyr, 8 Richard II.
	John Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, in 43 Edward III with the king’s licence enfeoffed Walter Amyas, John Abraham, John Doune, John Prat, David Perkyn, clerks, Ralph de Walsham and Thomas Crykkelade of the under-mentioned manors and advowson, with all other his lands, rents and services in the county of Bedford, and all the tenants attorned to the said feoffees, who were seised thereof and continued their seisin during the earl’s life (the earl claiming no estate in the premises and receiving no profits therefrom) and after the earl’s death, until the premises were lately taken into the king’s hand without any inquisition (officium) finding for the king. The premises were in the king’s hand, title not known, and the said Anne held them all her life by the king’s assignment, title not known. To whom the reversion belongs after her death by reason of the said assignment the jurors know not. Blounham. The manor, with the advowson of the church, held of the abbot of St. Edmund by service of being the abbot’s chief steward of the liberty of St. Edmund. Kempston. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service, as of the honor of Huntingdon. She died on Tuesday after Palm Sunday, 7 Richard II. John, son of the said John late earl of Pembroke and Anne, his wife, aged 11 years and more, is the heir of each of them.

	Writ, 15 April, 7 Richard II
MIDDLESEX.	Inq. taken at Shordiche, 10 June, 7 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned manor in dower by endowment of John de Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, her husband, the reversion belonging to John, son and heir of the said late earl, a minor in the king’s wardship. Totenham. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service. She died on 4 April last. The said John son of the earl, aged 11 years on the feast of St. Martin in the Winter last, is her heir.

	Writ, 15 April, 7 Richard II
HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. (indented) taken at Rosse, Thursday the eve of St. John the Baptist, 7 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned castle, etc. for life jointly with John de Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, deceased. Bergeveny. The castle, town and lordship, with all the members, knights’ fees, advowsons, customs and other appurtenances thereof, held of the king by knight’s service and a rent of 1d. yearly by the hands of the escheator. She died on 5 April last. John de Hastynges, now earl of Pembroke, son of the said late earl and Anne, aged 11 years on the feast of St. Martin last, is the late earl’s heir.

	Writ of certiorari touching the reversion of the said castle, town and lordship of Bergeveny after the death of Anne. 10 May, 8 Richard II.
HEREFORD AND THE ADJACENT MARCH OF WALES.	Inq. taken at Hereford, Saturday after Holy Trinity, 8 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned castle, town and lordship for life, jointly with the said late earl, by gift of Walter Amyas, John Abraham, John Doun, John Prat, clerks, Ralph de Walsham and Thomas Criclade, with the king’s licence, with remainder to the grantees, their heirs and assigns, as appears by the charter of feoffment shewn to the jurors under the king’s seal of exemplification. Bergeveny. The castle, town and lordship. Date of death as last above. Heir as above, aged 12 years on the feast of St. Martin last.

	Writ, 15 April, 7 Richard II
OXFORD.	Inq. taken at Oxford, 4 September, 8 Richard II.
	She held no lands, etc. in the county. She died on 4 April last. Heir not known.

BERKS.	Inq. taken at Nubury, 3 September, 8 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned manor for life in dower by endowment of John de Hastynges, late earl of Pembroke, her husband, the reversion belonging to the right heirs of the said late earl. Benham. The manor, held of the king in chief by knight’s service, amount not known. She held no other lands etc. in the county. She died on 4 April last. John, son of the said late earl and Anne, aged 11 years and more, is her heir.

	Writ, 15 April, 7 Richard II
SURREY.	Inq. taken at Suthwerk, 5 November, 8 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned tenement, etc. in dower. Suthwerk. A tenement with garden, held of the bishop of Winchester by a rent of 11s. 6d. yearly. She held no other lands etc. in the county (sic). She died on Saturday the eve of Palm Sunday last. John de Hastyngges, earl of Pembroke, aged 15 years and more, is her son and heir.
18.
SURREY.	Inq. taken at Guldeford, 2 November, 8 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned manor and part of a manor in dower. Westcote. The manor, and a third part of the manor of Padyngden, held of the duke of Lancaster, as of the honor of Laigle (Aquila), services not known. She held no other lands etc. in the county (sic). Date of death and heir as last above.

	Writ, 15 April, 7 Richard II
WILTS.	Inq. taken at Salisbury, Tuesday after Michaelmas, 8 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned messuages and lands for her life. Cotes. A messuage and a virgate of land called ‘Coldecotes’, held of the bishop of Salisbury, services not known. Fytelton. A messuage and a virgate of land, held of Robert Dyngelegh, as of his manor of Fytelton, service not known. She died on 4 April last. Heir not known.

	Writ, 15 April, 7 Richard II
ESSEX.	Inq. (indented) taken at Esthanyfeld, 9 May, 7 Richard II.
	The under-mentioned premises were conveyed to feoffees by the late earl, seized by the king, and assigned to the said Anne, as above (Bedford inquisition). Esthanyfeld. The manor, with lands etc. in Westhanyfeld. Southhanyfeld. The manor, with lands etc. in Fanges. Thoriton. The manor. They are held of the king as parcel of the barony of Pembroke. The said Anne held no other lands etc. in the county. She died on Tuesday after Palm Sunday last. John, son of the said late earl and Anne, aged 11 years on the feast of St. Martin, is the heir in blood of both of them. Margaret Mareschal, countess of Norfolk, has had possession of the premises and received the issues since the death of Anne.

NORFOLK.	Inq. (indented) taken at Watton Market, Wednesday the feast of SS. Peter and Paul, 8 Richard II.
	She held the under-mentioned manor for life in dower by endowment of Edward III, of the right and inheritance of John son and heir of John Hastyngges, late earl of Pembroke, and the said Anne, a minor in the king’s wardship. Aysshele. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by service of the serjeanty of napery, namely, at the king’s coronation. She died on 5 April last. John de Hastyngges, now earl of Pembroke, aged 11 years and more, is son and heir of the said late earl and Anne.

NORFOLK.	Inq. (indented) taken at Disse, Tuesday the eve of SS. Peter and Paul, 8 Richard II.
	The under-mentioned manor was conveyed to feoffees by the late earl, seized by the king and assigned to Anne, as above (Bedford inquisition). Wynferthyng. The manor (extent given, including a park, a wood called ‘Hulverwode’, and a ‘cach’ in the common of Wynferthyng and Banham Grene), held of the barony of Monchensy (de Monte Canuso) by service of one knight’s fee. Date of death and heir as last above.

NORFOLK.	Inq. (indented) taken at Hikelyng, Monday after the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, 8 Richard II.
	The under-mentioned manor was conveyed to feoffees by the late earl, seized by the king, and assigned to the said Anne, as above (Bedford inquisition). Sutton. The manor (extent given), held of the countess of Norfolk, as of her manor of Fornesete, by service of 2 1/2 knight’s fees and 6d. rent. GLOUCESTER.	Inq. taken at Cirencestre, Thursday after the Purification, 7 Richard II.
	The under-mentioned manor was taken into the hands of Edward III by the death of the said William and by reason of the minority of the said John, and came to the present king’s hand for the same cause. Legh by Durhurst. The manor, held of the priory of Durhurst, which is in the king’s hand on account of the war with France, by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee. Neither William nor John had any other lands etc. in the county. John died on Friday before Michaelmas, 6 Richard II. Agnes and Alice, his sisters, aged respectively 20 years and more and 14 years and more, are his heirs. Agnes is married to John Brounyng, the younger, and Alice to John Wynter, to whom Thomas Berkeley of Berkeley (who held the custody of the manor and the marriage of the heirs by the present king’s grant by letters patent) granted the marriage of the said Alice.

	The said John son of William held the said manor of Legh by Derhurst in demesne as of fee on the day of his death, by service as above. He held no other lands etc. in the county. Date of death and heirs as above.

GLOUCESTER.	Proof of age (indented) of Alice, sister and heir of the said John son of William, taken at Gloucester, Monday before the Annunciation, 7 Richard II.
	John atte Nassh, Thomas Honere, John atte Halle and Thomas Bocher, each aged 60 years and more, say that the said Alice was born at Legh on Monday after the Epiphany, 42 Edward III, and was baptised in the church there. This they remember because on the same day they were in the church when the cross of the belfrey was blown down by the wind; and so they well know that she is 15 years of age and more. John Webbeleye, William Orchard, William Webbe and Richard Stoke, each aged 58 years and more, agree and say that they were at Derhurst the same day on an inquisition taken before the sheriff of Gloucester at his tourn there, and a certain John Tolle met them as they went to the tourn and told them of the birth of Alice. Walter Adam, Nicholas Hawe, Geoffrey Roggers and Thomas Prat, each aged 45 years and more, agree and say that they were at Gloucester the same day in the company of William Rodberwe, for the taking of a special assize there, when a certain John Saundres told the said William of the birth of Alice his daughter.

	He held the under-mentioned manor in his demesne as of fee. Hyle. The manor, held of the bishop of Salisbury by knight’s service. He died on Thursday the feast of St. Barnabas last. Richard, son of William Restwold his son, aged 19 years and more, is his heir.

	He held the under-mentioned manor in his demesne as of fee. Cromerssh Gyffard. The manor, with the view of frankpledge pertaining thereto, held of the earl of Pembroke by service of one knight’s fee. He died on the feast of St. Barnabas, 6 Richard II. Heir as above, aged 18 years on Christmas day last.

	He held the under-mentioned premises. Hurst. A messuage and a carucate of land, held of the bishop of Salisbury by knight’s service. They were lately part of the manor of Syndlesham, the whole of which manor is held of the said bishop by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee. Hurst. A toft with a dovecote, 2 a. pasture, a croft containing 3 a. pasture, and 1 a. meadow, held of the abbot of Abyndon in socage by service of 2s. 6d. yearly. Date of death and heir as last above.
