Hengham ad Castrum, Hengham Sibile, Bourhalle, Wachesherst, Gelham, Beauchamp, and Vaux. By his letters patent dated at Lavenham on Sunday the feast of the Purification, 45 Edward III, he granted to the same Thomas for life the keepership of the park and warren and all the outwoods and fisheries, as well in rivers (ripariis) as elsewhere, in the said towns. Thomas receives for the said bailiwick a quarter of wheat every eight weeks, 5s. yearly for his fee, a robe of the suit of the esquires of the earl’s household whenever the earl makes a general livery for his household servants, two cartloads of hay and a quarter of oats yearly out of the issues of the manor of Hengham ad Castrum for his horse, pasture for four cows, a mare and a foal, and pannage for four pigs yearly (annuales), in the park, all windfall wood in the park and the outwoods within the warren, and sufficient fuel within the park for his household.

Chesham. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief by knight’s service as parcel of the barony of Bulbek. Peter Perpount, Richard de Aston, and Richard Stoke, clerk, granted it to the earl and Maud his wife in fee tail. The demesne of the manor, with the meadow and pasture adjoining and a water-mill, is delivered at farm to Henry Smyht for 10 marks yearly.
In 11 Edward III the king by charter granted to Robert de Veer, late earl of Oxford, and his heirs and assigns, view of frankpledge of all the tenants in the town of Chesham, whether his own or of others, for a yearly rent of 33s. 4d. payable at the Exchequer by the hands of the sheriff. This view is complete (unum grossum) in itself, and not parcel of the manor; but the earl and Maud took the profits thereof as parcel of the manor because of the said feoffment, whether with the king’s licence or not the jurors know not.
Calverton and Wytchirche. The advowsons of the churches, tenure not known.
