SUFFOLK. Inq. taken at Bredefeld, Tuesday before the Conversion of St. Paul, 34 Edward III.
Dalham. The manor with the advowson of the church.
Bredefeld. The manor.
Held jointly by the said Walter and Margaret his wife, who survives, of the gift of John de Norwico, father of Walter, to them and the heirs of their bodies, of [the king in chief] by knight’s service.
The said Walter died on Friday the feast of St. Michael in Monte Tumba.
John his son, aged 13 years and more, is his heir.

ESSEX. Inq. taken at Branketre, Thursday the morrow of St. John the Baptist, 34 Edward III.
Felstede. The tenement called ‘Glaunvylles’ (extent given), held of the king in chief by service of finding a stable for one of the king’s horses when the king passes through the neighbourhood (patriam) and paying the king … . . yearly by the hands of the sheriff.
The premises belong to the said John, who survives, by the law of England.
She died on 30 May last. Alice Glaunvylles, her aunt (amita), aged 40 years and more, is an heir of the said Alice, and the jury do not know if there are other heirs.

BEDFORD. Inq. made at Bedford, Saturday after All Saints, 34 Edward III.
Houghton Conquest. A manor and two carucates of land held of the countess of Pembroke, as of the honour of Huntingdon, by knight’s service and suit at the court of the said countess at Huntingdon; 16a. land in Danystockyng held of William de Russeby by service of 20d. yearly.
He died on Sunday before the Invention of Holy Cross last. Roger Conquest, his son, aged 18 years, is his heir.

Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of John son of Richard de Carleton, of Lincoln, and who has had possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 17 April, 34 Edward III.
LINCOLN. Inq. taken at Lincoln, Thursday after Ascension day, 34 Edward III.
Lincoln. A messuage held of the dean and chapter of Lincoln by service of 6d. yearly.
He held no other lands in the county.
He died on 16 April, 22 Edward III. Humphrey de Carleton, chaplain, aged 40 years and more, is his heir, and as heir has been in possession of the premises since the death of the said John.

Bodham. 38a. land and 2 1/2a. pasture held of the king in chief by service of 10s. yearly for ward of Dover castle, whereof 13a. are in the hand of Margery, late the wife of the said John as dower, and 27a. with the messuage are in the king’s hand by reason of the minority of the heir of the said John.
He died on Saturday before St. Mary Magdalene, 23 Edward III. William his son, of full age, is his heir.

[HEREFORD.] Inq. taken at Hereford, Saturday after the Epiphany, 34 Edward III.
Sutton, Maurden and Westamston. A virgate of land, parcel of Sutton, held of the king in chief by service of rendering yearly 12d. and a pair of spurs, which virgate he demised long before his death to Sir Walter Dameron, Sir Walter Neet and Roger Berde, who re-enfeoffed him and Maud his wife and the heirs of their bodies, without the king’s licence.
Neuton. A messuage and 2 carucates of land held of the lord of Clifford by knight’s service.
He died on Friday before St. John the Baptist, 34 Edward III. John his son, aged 14 years, is his heir so far as concerns the lands not demised.

Radeclyf on Sore. A messuage and three virgates of land held of Ralph Basset, lord of Radeclyf, by service of 8s. and 1lb. cummin yearly.
He died on . . July last. John his son, aged 8 years, is his heir.

576. CHRISTIANA, LATE THE WIFE OF PHILIP FLEMYNG.
Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of Christiana, late the wife of Philip Flemyng, and who has had possession of her lands since her death. 8 July, 34 Edward III.
WALES [GLAMORGAN]. Inq. taken at Kerdyf, Saturday before St. Bartholomew, 34 Edward III.
Flemyngeston. A third part of a knight’s fee held of the heir of Hugh le Despenser by knight’s service and 2s. 2 3/4d. yearly.
She held no other lands &c. in the county.
She died on 1 May, 34 Edward III. Richard, son of Richard Flemyng, aged 21 years on the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul last, is her heir.
Guy Bryan, knight, has been in possession of the premises and has received the issues up to the day of the making of these presents, holding them at farm from the king, as he says.

Shirington. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by knight’s service, and charged with 3s. 4d. yearly to John fitz Richard.
He died on 7 April last. John de Lynford his son, aged 9 years, is his heir.

578. CHRISTIANA, LATE THE WIFE OF THOMAS SMALE or SMALLE.
Writ to the sheriff of Roxburgh to enquire as to the lands and heir of Christiana, late the wife of Thomas Smale, and who has had possession of her lands since her death and received the issues. 18 June, 34 Edward III.
ROXBURGH. Inq. taken 14 October, A.D. 1360.
Estirsoftlawe. The town held of the king by service of being serjeant (ministrandi in officio serjantie) within the east ward of Tevydall.
She held nothing else in the county.
She died on Friday before Michaelmas, A.D. 1349. Margaret, late the daughter of Walter Whright, aged 12 years, is her heir.
The king and John Stewarde have been in possession of the town of Estirsoftlagh since her death and have received the issues.

Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of John Dakenay of Great Caynhoe, and who has had possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 11 March, 34 Edward III.
BEDFORD. Inq. taken at Shefford, 18 March, 34 Edward III.
Caynho. A messuage, 40a. land, 7a. meadow, 3a. pasture and 50a. wood held of the king in chief by knight’s service, whereof the said John, two years before his death, enfeoffed Roger Dakeney and Joan his wife, to them and their heirs, with the king’s licence.
The said Roger and Joan have been in possession of the premises since his death, and still are, and have received the issues.
He died on Tuesday in Easter week, 24 Edward III. The name of his heir the jury know not.

BEDFORD. Inq. taken at Bedford, Tuesday after the Assumption, 34 Edward III.
Wilden. The manor (extent given, the site being ruinous and a moiety of the land fallow and barren) with its appurtenances except the advowson of the church, held jointly by the said James de Pabenham, knight, and Katherine his wife, of the king as of the honour of Peverel, by service of one knight’s fee.
Carlton. A messuage, 40a. land, 3a. meadow, 15a. wood, and 10s. rent held of the king in chief as of the crown by knight’s service; 12a. land held of Roger de Wodeford by service of 18d. yearly.
The said James held all the above jointly with Katherine his wife, who survives, of the feoffment of Edmund de Pabenham, parson of the church of Wilden.
He died on Sunday before the Nativity of St. John the Baptist last. Margery, daughter of the said James and Katharine, aged 5 years, is his heir.

He held no other lands in the county.
He died in parts beyond sea on 23 October, 32 Edward III. Roger la Warre, his brother, aged 30 years and more, is his heir.

Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of John, son of Robert Syfrewast, and who has had possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 10 July, 34 Edward III.
DORSET. Inq. taken at Blaneford, 21 July, 34 Edward III.
Frome Foucherche. A messuage, . . carucates of land, 7a. meadow and 4s. rent held of the earl of March by knight’s service; into which, immediately after the death of the said John, Thomas Bonevill, deceased, intruded, and he remained in possession for nine years, and since his death John, his son and heir, has been in possession until now.
John son of Robert died on Saturday after SS. Simon and Jude, 24 Edward III. John son of Elizabeth, sister of the deceased and daughter of Robert Syfrewast, aged 21 years and more, is his kinswoman and heir.
The said John held no other lands in the bailiwick.

Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of John de Seintmor and who has been in possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 26 April, 34 Edward III.
WALES [MONMOUTH]. Inq. taken 20 July, 34 Edward III.
Magor and Netherwent. 20a. 1 1/2r. land, 35s. 6 1/4d. rent and a fourth part of a messuage in Magor held jointly by the said John and Elizabeth his wife, who survives, of the king in chief by knight’s service of the gift of Henry son of [Roger], to them and the heirs and assigns of John.
Penho. The manor held jointly by the said John and Elizabeth and the heirs and assigns of John of the countess Marshal, as of the lordship of Chepstowe castle, in chief by knight’s service and suit at the court of the said castle every four weeks.
Wyduston. The manor similarly held of Peter de Cusance as of his manor of Langston, by knight’s service.
Porskewet. The manor held in fee of the countess Marshal, as of her lordship of Chepstowe, in chief by knight’s service.
Salusbury. The manor held in fee of the countess of Clare, as of the lordship of Carlyon castle, in chief by knight’s service.
The said John held no other lands.
He died on Tuesday before St. Mark, 32 Edward III. Roger his son, aged 20 years, is his heir.

585. RICHARD DE BLYNTESFELD.
Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of Richard de Blyntesfeld and who has had possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 27 October, 34 Edward III.
DORSET. Inq. taken at Shafton, Saturday before St. Thomas the Apostle, 34 Edward III.
Blyntesfeld in the borough of Shafton. A messuage and two virgates of land held in fee tail of Adam atte Moure by service of 1lb. cummin and a pair of spurs at Michaelmas.
He died on 4 March, 22 Edward III. John, son of William Do[mer], and Isabel his wife, daughter and heir of Thomas, son and heir of the said Richard, aged 16 years and more, is his kinsman and heir.
Nicholaa, daughter of the said Richard, after the death of her father, entered the premises and was in possession and received the issues thereof from that time to the feast of St. Hilary, 29 Edward III, after which the aforesaid John the heir entered and took possession and received the issues until the feast of St. Lambert, 34 Edward III, after which John Jat and Walter Broun entered and they are still receiving the issues.

586. BALDWIN BUTTTETOURT, knight.
Writ, 30 March, 34 Edward III.
ESSEX. Inq. taken at Canefeld, Tuesday in Easter week, 34 Edward III.
Dounham. The manor (extent given), including a leet on Sunday after All Souls, held of the grant of John de Veer, late earl of Oxford, for the life of the said earl. The earl held the manor as in fee tail of the gift of Richard de Stokes, clerk, and John Fermer, to him and the heirs of his body, with remainder to his right heirs, by fine levied with the king’s licence. It is held of the king in chief as parcel of the earldom of Oxford, service not known.
The said Baldwin held the office of forester (ballivam foresterie) in the county of Essex of the grant of John de Veer, late earl of Oxford, for the life of the latter, who held it of the inheritance (?) of Maud his wife, who survives. The said earl and Maud had issue Thomas de Veer, their son and heir. The office is held of the king in chief, service and value not known.
Baldwin died on 21 January and the earl on 24 January last. Thomas de Veer, aged 22 years and more, is son and heir of the earl. Baldwin his son, aged 21 years and more, is next heir of the blood of the said Baldwin.

587. THOMAS DE LEYCESTRE.
Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of Thomas de Leycester and who has had possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 10 October, 34 Edward III.
NORTHAMPTON. Inq. made at Northampton, 18 November, 34 Edward III.
Horpoll. Two messuages and two virgates of land held of the king in chief as of the honour of Peverel by service of making two appearances (adventus) yearly at the court of the said honour at Duston, co. Northampton.
He died at Easter, 23 Edward III. Philip, son of Nicholas le Porter, aged 21 years and more at the feast of St. John the Baptist last, is his kinsman and heir.
Richard Blundell, late escheator in the county, was in possession of the premises after his death for the king’s use, and afterwards the king committed them by letters patent to John Sauce to hold until the lawful age of the heir, rendering 20s. yearly into the king’s wardrobe, and he has been in possession until now.
Thomas held no other lands in the county.

588. JOHN POLLARD.
Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of John Pollard and who has had possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 4 February, 34 Edward III.
HUNTINGDON. Inq. taken at Huntingdon, Thursday after the Epiphany, 33 (sic) Edward III.
Hemyngford Grey. Three messuages, 24a. land, 2a. meadow held of the king in chief by service of 4d. yearly, which the sheriff receives in the king’s name, 4d. yearly for ‘le Hundredgeld,’ which the sheriff receives, 1/2d. yearly called ‘wardehalpeny,’ suit of court at the king’s view of frankpledge held twice yearly at Hemyngford aforesaid, and suit of the sheriff’s tourn at Touleslond.
Fen Drayton. A messuage and 60a. land, meadow and pasture held of the priors of Huntyngdon and Bernewell by service of 13s. 4d. to the former and 11s. 1 1/2d. to the latter.
He died on Tuesday after the Nativity of the Virgin, 31 Edward III.
William Pollard his son, aged 8 years, is his heir.
The escheator and John de Ellisworth have received the issues since his death in the king’s name.

589. ROGER PECCHE.
Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands in the king’s hand by the death of Gilbert Pecche, tenant in chief, and the minority of Roger, his son and heir, who died while in the king’s wardship, and as to the date of death and heir of the latter. 16 September, 34 Edward III.
SUFFOLK. Inq. taken at Havirhill, Thursday before St. Luke, 34 Edward III.
Great Thirllowe. The manor (extent given), including 280a. wood of great trees, a dilapidated windmill, a leet at Whitsuntide and a fair on Michaelmas day, held of the king in chief, as of the honour of Boulogne, by service of half a knight’s fee.
The said Roger held no other lands in the county.
He died on 29 August last. His sisters, Katherine, aged 21 years and more, and Elizabeth, aged 12 years and 40 weeks, are his heirs.
Writ to the escheator, notifying that the king has respited the homage of the aforesaid Katherine until the octave of the Purification next, and ordering him to make partition, take her fealty and security for due payment of her relief and deliver to her the elder sister’s share, retaining in the king’s hand the share of Elizabeth. 3 December 34 Edward III.

590. GUY DE WARREWYK or DE WARWYK, SON OF THOMAS DE BELLO CAMPO, EARL OF WARWICK.
Writ, 16 June, 34 Edward III.
NORFOLK. Inq. taken at Saham, 24 June, 34 Edward III.
Saham. The manor, with the hundreds of Waylound and Grymesho thereto belonging, held of the king in chief by service of 50s. blanch farm yearly to the king’s castle of Norwich.
Neketon or Necketon. The manor, with its appurtenances Little Cressingham, Little Fransham and West Wrotham, and the advowsons of the priories of Westacre and Schuldham and of the churches of Necketon, Little Cressingham and Little Fransham, with the vicarage of Necketon, held of the king in chief, service not known.
The said Guy held all the premises jointly with Philippa his wife, by gift of Thomas de Bello Campo, earl of Warwick, his father, to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the heirs of Guy.
He died on 28 April last. His daughters, Katherine, aged 7 years and more, and Elizabeth, aged a year and three-quarters, are his heirs.

DORSET. Inq. taken at Mortesthorn, Thursday after St. Luke, 34 Edward III.
Mortesthorn. Two parts of a messuage and garden, two parts of a carucate of land, 7 1/2a. meadow, hilly and only worth 7s. 6d. yearly, 14a. several pasture with wood growing thereon, and 20s. yearly rent, held of the king in chief as of the manor of Mortesthorn, by knight’s service.
He died on Monday after St. John the Baptist last. Margaret his sister, aged 13 years on the feast of the Epiphany last, is his heir, and she has been abducted by William de Keynes so that the escheator cannot seize her on behalf of the king, and has been married by the said William to one Walter atte More, as the jury believe.

CAMBRIDGE. Inq. taken at Cambridge, Monday after St. Gregory, 34 Edward III.
Swaveseye. The manor held for life of the inheritance of Hugh, son and heir of Alan la Zousche, of the earl of Richmond by service of 26s. 8d. and suit at the earl’s court twice yearly.
Fulbourn. The manor called ‘le Zouches maner’ held of the same earl by knight’s service, and the manor called ‘le Maners’ held of the bishop of Ely by knight’s service.
She died on Friday before St. Gregory last. The aforesaid Hugh la Zouche is her heir, but the jury do not know if he is of age, because he was born (oriundus extiterat) in Worcestershire.

WILTS. Inq. taken at Salisbury, 2 June, 34 Edward III.
Eblesbourne Wake. A moiety of the manor held in right of Emma his wife, who survives, for her life, by gift of John Berenger, sometime her husband, of the king in chief by service of an eighth part of a knight’s fee.
He died on 7 February last. Edmund Hakelut his son, aged 11 years and more, is his heir.
SOUTHAMPTON. Inq. made at Andevere, 25 May, 34 Edward III.
Shipton. The manor held in right of Emma his wife, who survives, for her life, of John de la Ware by serjeanty.
Snodinton. The manor held as above of Thomas West, knight, in socage.
Swathelingge. Lands and tenements to the value of 13s. 4d. yearly, held as above, of the dower of John de Berenger, her first husband, of the king in chief by serjeanty.

Writ to the escheator to enquire as to the lands and heir of John Hunt of Spryngefeld and who has had possession of his lands since his death and received the issues. 14 February, 34 Edward III.
ESSEX. Inq. taken at Chelmersford, Friday after St. Matthias, 34 Edward III.
Spryngefeld. A tenement called ‘le Huntes’ (extent given), including 74a. arable worth only 2 1/2d. an acre, the land being very stony and poor and lying in common in divers parcels among other men’s lands, held of the king, as of the honour of Peverel, by service of a fourth part of a knight’s fee; and 18a. land held of the earl of Oxford by knight’s service.
He died immediately after Easter, 23 Edward III. Abel his son, aged 21 years and more, is his heir.
The escheator had possession of the lands held of the king and received the issues for the king’s use and accounted for them at the Exchequer from the day of the death of the said John until 20 November, 26 Edward III, when the king committed the custody of them to Thomas de Poleye until the lawful age of the heir, for a rent of 60s. yearly to be paid into the king’s wardrobe; the said Thomas is still in possession. The earl of Oxford has been in possession of the lands held of him, and still is.

Writ after the death of the said Hawise, who held certain lands &c. in dower 20 March, 34 Edward III.
SALOP. Inq. made at Welynton, Thursday after SS. Philip and James, 34 Edward III.
Pulrebache. A third part of the manor held for life in dower of the inheritance of Ralph her late husband, which third part she demised to Edward le Botiller, son of John le Botiller, for her life at a rent of six marks a year. The manor is held of the king in chief by knight’s service.
She died on 2 March last. Edward le Botiller, brother and heir of Ralph, son of John le Botiller, son of Ralph le Botiller of Northbury, aged 23 years, is her heir.

NORTHAMPTON. Inq. made at Horton, 20 June, 34 Edward III.
Horton. Four messuages and four half virgates of land held of the lady of Wodhull by knight’s service, which tenements are demised to divers tenants for 40s. yearly.
Northampton. Eight shops held as free burgage of the town by rendering to the king 12d. yearly, their share in the farm (12d. infra firmam) of the town.
She held no other lands in the county.
Date of death not known. Edward le Botiller, her kinsman, aged 23 years and more at Easter last, is her heir.

Hegham Gobion. The manor (extent given) held for life of the inheritance of Edward le Botiller, of John Pycot by knight’s service.

Northbury. The manor (extent given, including a park, a vivary with fishery, and a watermill in ruins) held for life of Roger de Mortuo Mari, earl of March, by knight’s service, as of his castle of Lodelowe.
She held no other lands in the county.
She died on Saturday in the third week of Lent, 34 Edward III. Edward le Botiller, son of John le Botiller, knight, aged 22 years and more, is her heir.

Middelton. A third part of the manor (extent given) held for life. The whole manor is held of the collegiate church of St. Edith the Virgin, Tamworth, by service of 6s. 8d. yearly.

Yatesbury. A toft and fourscore and ten acres of arable with 4a. meadow, a several pasture and 8s. yearly rent of free tenants, held for life of the king in chief by knight’s service in dower, of the endowment of her late husband, Ralph le Botiller, grandfather of Edward le Botiller, brother and heir of Ralph son of John son of the said Ralph, instead of other lands in co. Stafford. The reversion belongs to the said Edward.
Salterton. The manor, which she held for life, being jointly enfeoffed with Ralph her late husband, of the earl of Stafford by service of a moiety of one knight’s fee, as of the honour of Gloucester.
She died on 9 April last. Edward le Botiller, aged 23 years and more, is her kinsman and heir.
